It is finally here! An opportunity to work closely with Andre Consciencia over three semesters. I use the term ‘work’ because this is more like a college education. It requires constant communication with Andre with ongoing essays as well as practical work being done in the form of rituals, energy work, astral work etc.
You can see the curriculum for all three semesters here.
To make it even more accessible and because we are listening to feedback you can sign up for this on Perseus and pay for the first semester – other semesters are paid for when and if you pass the first semester – we also have a payment plan option to help those wanting to take part while balancing the budget.
If you have experience of working with Andre or are familiar with his books, then you can imagine how helpful this semester will be. Those completing all three semesters will be well on their way to becoming guides in their own right.
This book covers aspects of The Key to True Quabbalah, by Franz Bardon, and expands them. It is divided into four parts that serve the magician, the theurgist and the learning quabbalist.

Interview with Ilona Ciunaite
Thank you for the invitation to be interviewed. And I’m honored. Thank you for that. And I’m going to go through the questions one by one and see which ones I would like to answer for you.
Okay, the catalytic experience. Question one. Yes, I had the transformative experience on magic mushrooms, and I never had them before, and it was the first time. So I didn’t know what to expect. And it really was a magical trip. In that trip, it felt like what reality was was shown to be different. I thought I knew what reality was, and this was extremely interesting and liberating at that moment, and since then I was looking to get back into that state, which felt like home. In that state, there was no mind. The mind didn’t think, then talk, didn’t evaluate and compare. It was just quiet. It was peaceful. And for me, that was an incredible experience because I never knew that it was possible.
So after that experience, I felt elated for like a week, and I started looking and searching how to get back into that without taking any substances, because I knew that magic mushrooms, they show the way. They kind of open the door, and then I have to walk through it myself.
Okay, question 2, the 8-year search. And since having the first trip of magic mushrooms, a new perspective opened up, and I was looking in various places how to find this way home. For me, it was a gradual process. It wasn’t something like I was losing myself into too much. I enjoyed exploring different modalities and different things, and especially sound healing. At that time, there was this thing called Holo Sync, so I bought some CDs. And I was listening to them during at night, you know, going to sleep, and I just put the phones on, and I drift away. So, allowing these sounds to penetrate into my brain, kind of do the work.
And that was the main thing, and just various different things. It wasn’t interrupting my daily life at all. It wasn’t like serious secret. I was just reading some books and doing my own thing just being curious. Everything got way much more intense at the end of the 8-year period, where I found Jed McKenna’s books. And that was another pivotal moment because when I read them, I realized that everything I knew, I believed that wasn’t true. That wasn’t how it is. It was just some programming. So that was a painful period, and a lot of questioning and self-inquiry and cutting through stuff that I believed was true. Which ended up in kind of letting go of believing.
I couldn’t say that I believe anything anymore because I knew that it’s never 100%. And it’s not something that is coming from me. It’s something that I learned from other people. So that was the culmination of this 8-year period. I read 3 books of Jed McKenna in 13 days over Easter, and I remember there was this volcanic eruption in Reykjavik, and all the planes were landed, and it was an interesting time. So I kind of felt like everything is being stopped for a moment. And yeah, that was a painful time. I was still working, I still enjoyed my life as much as I could, and of course, I had periods of despair and darkness, and crying and feeling like a victim, all that, just normal human stuff. There wasn’t anything particularly strong or unbearable. I kind of felt guided or felt like I’m on a mission, some kind of.
So I just continued working, living, and arrived at the point where things shifted.
Question 3. The influence of literature and teachers. Oh, Jed McKenna’s books were significant in my journey, as well as Pamela meeting Pamela Wilson. Other than that, I liked Richard Bach because he had such a sweet element of mystery and magic and kind of mysticism in it. I don’t remember much about anything else, because it was so long ago, and now it doesn’t feel significant. But the main thing was that I felt guided. So the next book would just come into my awareness on email or in a bookstore. I was just picking up random things, and none of that was as powerful a team as Jed McKenna’s books. Really, the moment of recognition.
Yes, there was this moment of recognition, and I remember I was in my bedroom with a cup of coffee in my hand, looking through the window. It was just a normal morning, and this question came into my mind. Is the Helena running the show? And for a moment, my mind went blank, quiet, stunned. And it was seen that now there was no Ilona running the show ever. It’s impossible. On that moment, it wasn’t recognized really as a shift until maybe 3 days later because, well, something was different, and even my mind was trying to grasp and try to understand what happened. It was clear that something happened. Something fell away. Some kind of core belief was no longer there. There was no way to hook back into it, and since that shift, everything started changing, like starting from moving into another town and opening my own business, and just everything started looking differently.
I always say that the first year is the most interesting because there are so many new insights, so many new recognitions and things fall away, and it’s, I could say, insane. At the same time, I was feeling very blissful, happy, joyful, even though things were happening that not always were good or comfortable. There was that immense sense of freedom. Yes, letting everything be in a different way. Yeah, seeing the patterns of contracting and trying to hold on to things and knowing that there’s nothing to hold on. There’s nobody here that can hold on.
So, it was intense on traveling for a while, and for a few months, I felt high on life, and I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t eat. I was walking around a little bit like in the days. Oh, in love. Yeah. So, that was the slow shift that changed everything.
Post recognition changes. Yes, there were a lot of big changes and small changes, and the most interesting was that my mind became like an amusement park, and I got so interested in, and what’s going on there that the outside life kind of faded into the background rather than being in the foreground, so it could still function. I could still do that. Please meet clients, make orders, and all that kind of stuff that was still working, and in the daytime I was working with people that had no idea about this, and in the evenings, on my spare time, I was writing a blog and talking to people that were interested in this. So it kind of felt like I was leading a double life for a while.
Which the tattoo, tattoo life and awakening life were not connected in any way, and I could not speak about awakening to everyday people, which was a little bit of a struggle, because I kind of wanted to connect. But there was nobody to connect with. So after a while, I kind of realized that it was my, if I wanted to connect to people, I need to help them to wake up. So that was the beginning of the liberation unleashed. I knew that if I wanted to explore that with others, they have to be awake as well. So that’s how the guiding started.
And firstly over email, then over the Forum, and then many more people joined the Forum. And it was just such a wonderful experience of having a community, building a community of guides and people that were looking after the website and doing the Admin work. It was such a joint effort, and well, it worked pretty well because liberation unleashed is still here 13 years later, and it’s running by itself.
So, what concerns relationships? The biggest shift that I noticed was with my mom because my mom was intensely suffering all her life, and I kind of felt that I had to run away from that. So when I was listening to her stories and she was sharing her pain, I could not feel this thing anymore. I could not feel the pain anymore, but I felt love and compassion instead. So there was allowing for her to be herself to share the painful memories. But it wasn’t taking it on board and carrying that and crying about that, which was huge for me.
Okay, next question is the eye virus concept? Yeah, like, right after seeing through this illusion of a separate self, it dawned on me that it’s like a virus, you know. Another word would be a parasite. But I don’t really like to use that word so much. So. Eye virus. This is like infection to the core programming, and well as beings, as natural beings, we are wired to be in harmony with everything, to live balanced and harmonious, fulfilling life. But something happened for a human, maybe for the mind, that most people don’t feel that. Most people don’t live harmonious, balanced, and joyful life. Natural life. Most humans live painful life, suffering and feeling regrets and guilt and shame about the past, and being anxious, fearful, and panicky about the future, and the normal human mind doesn’t spend so much time in the present because there is so much going on in the memory in the movies that takes a whole lot of attention.
So I don’t know what happened, but it seems like the core programming got infected with this virus that we call I me mine. This is what I am. This is the limited contracted being that has to be comparing itself to others. It’s like a victim of life and circumstances, and it’s a really painful place to be. I don’t really talk about eye virus these days, but it’s still in my book, and if somebody wants to read about it. You can just read about it. I still see that as a fit metaphor. But I think with the word virus, which is now very charged on many levels, I kind of stay away from it now.
Liberation unleashed was a joint effort. Before that, there was a group of people on a different forum, which now no longer exists. So a few of us decided to go our own way. So liberation unleashed was born, and that platform is still going. The whole idea is that there are seekers who come to the Forum, and they want to be guided. They are ready to see through the illusion of self, and there are guides who already been through the Forum, who experienced the process, and now they are able to help and to point and to guide the seeker, and once the seeker recognizes, then the guides kind of confirm that they recognize what they recognize, and then, later on, the seeker can become a guide himself and help others. So it’s like a machine that works, that new people are coming in. They’re being guided. If they like to guide, they give their services all for free, all out of compassion and love for human beings.
There are many parts in liberation unleashed, which is maintenance of website and administration work and registering and moving people to groups. And the main thing is the forum, of course, while the conversations are happening, and the system was set up in such a way that it runs by itself. There is no leader. There is no one person in charge. If something comes up, people just discuss among themselves, decide what needs to be done, and just do it.
So, for this, I’m very grateful for everyone who has been ever involved in liberation unleashed, and keep it running to this day, and I don’t exactly know much about what’s going on there now, because I myself moved away from Forum, guiding into Zoom Meetings, live conversations. I find it so much more effective. But I have done this forum, guiding for many years. And it works. If somebody is looking for a guide, they can go and register and get served. Get assistance.
Common obstacles. I love this question. Yes, there are 3 common obstacles. The first is fear, the fear of disappearing, fear of not being able to function, fear of not existing, fear of death, fear of going mad, all kinds of existential fear, because when we are questioning the core belief of there being an I as a separate self, the fear is protecting that belief from being found out that it’s not true.
The second thing is expectations, and everyone has expectations. Expectations are, you know, we read or watch or hear other people talk about this awakening process, or how it was for them. So the mind paints a picture of how it should be for me, and these expectations are about how I will perceive life, how I will be seen by others, how I will become maybe wise, and have superpowers, or there is some expectation for some grand experience, because this, that, or the other hand, so there are a lot of expectations, and these things get in the way of seeing clearly, because the mind is holding an image against reality and constantly comparing it. And if the reality is not matching the image, it says, this is not it. This is not it. This is not it. There must be something else. I should be feeling something else. This awakening hasn’t happened yet because they had a different experience. So it’s crucial to look through this chapter of the mind that says that it knows how it should be, because it doesn’t know. The recognition is beyond the mind, meaning that when the stillness is recognized, there are no thoughts, there are no descriptions, there are no words arising, there’s nothing there to describe.
So whatever the mind is imagining is not it?
Yes, and the third key player in this obstacle game is resistance, resistance is protection. Protection of the belief system that is currently in place because the belief system has been built year after year after year, putting belief after belief into place, and everything has to be matched. And if something comes in that is not matched, that means a discomfort or cognitive dissonance. So the system has to rearrange, to include that belief, to make sense with a whole other system.
And if the belief in the core, belief in separate self is gone, then the whole system has to rearrange. And that’s why there is so much resistance, because the system is protecting itself from this huge work of collapsing and shedding and changing the whole structure of what we call a person. And yeah, the resistance is one of the most interesting phenomena to look at and work with, because what we call an obstacle and a blockage or something that is in the way is really showing the way forward, showing the way in. And if you treat that as the next invitation to examine something, whatever is coming up. That’s how you move forward, because whatever you resist is holding on so much energy around that it’s so good to release that because that energy can come back into circulation and be flexible and moving and doing its job. But the resistance is holding it like hostage protecting it. So it’s fascinating to work with the resistance.
And so these are the 3 main things that are in the way of seeing clearly. So the resistance is saying. No, I’m not going to go and look there. No, it will not work. Yeah, it can be seen as a doubt also, or this as a fear.
So what’s required is honesty, courage, and readiness. A willingness to look for yourself and readiness. So courage is the other side of fear. Honesty and openness is the other side of expectations. Willingness and readiness is the other side of resistance. So once these 3 resolve, you know, the path is clear. Something can help misconceptions about the process.
Yeah, as I talked before, the mind has an image of how this should be and how it should look, and what I will be like. So the common myths are that it has to be a huge, energetic release or huge event, or something like fireworks. But often it comes just so that as a tiny little poof! And nothing happens. So the misconception is that if I don’t have this huge event, that means I don’t see it.
This is one. The main thing. Another thing is that people expect that once I see it, my life is going to be peachy, rosy. Everything’s wonderful. It’s actually a beginning of the deconstruction process which can be very intense. I’m very full on. It can lead to many disorientations and even dark nights of the soul. Or like perch, or like extensive bliss that feels too much, or whatever way. It’s very unique. So we cannot say that it will be like this or like that, it’s more like your experience is the one that matters now.
So dig in and see what’s true for you. Misconception is that somebody else knows how it should be for me. Nobody knows that. Yeah. And after after the shift, the initial shift, there is a long cleanup operation. I may call it a cosmic washing machine, because all your beliefs, everything that is not true starts falling away, and it feels like you are being cleaned or cleared, or clarified or purified. And every day is the process. And the misconception is that, you know, once I see it through, I don’t need to do that. I don’t need to go through painful emotions or memories, or look into my stories. That’s not true, because everything that has been rejected, denied, resisted, repressed, is going to come up and needs your attention.
Well, the good thing is a lot of things fall away by just being in silence, because silence is another purification going on. And it kind of sucks out all this stuff that is no longer needed in a way that you are not even aware of it. But stuff that is sticky, persistent, and showing up in your situations over and over again need some conscious investigation and inquiry. So it’s a good idea to have a guide during this time because a lot of people went through it already, and you don’t need to be alone, and you can have help. Whether it’s physical, mental, emotional, spiritual aspects of it all are included, and they all need some clearing.
Like, let’s say, if you’ve never been to a hygienist and to clean your teeth professionally. You have been brushing your teeth every day, anyway, but once you get a professional clean, oh, it feels so sparkly and so good, and you want to maintain that it’s not like once you have it done once, then that’s it. You don’t never need to pick up a toothbrush again. But we do have to maintain and keep cleaning our teeth daily. So the misconception is that I don’t need to keep looking anymore. Everything is just effortless, peaceful, happy, blissful all the time. And this expectation is very much in the way of seeing clearly and jumping into the path, the right path, because now, since there is a space between what I am and what I am not. What I am not is allowed to be as it is, and move in its own way in its own time, and just being a witness to that helps really helps because there’s less and less holding on to the old stuff after the recognition.
Yes, it’s the recognition is just the beginning. Like, you have been in this room. You open the door, and now you’re in a field. So recognition is now stepping through the door into the field. And what’s in the field? Everything’s new. You have to explore and see what’s going on in that field. So it’s just the beginning, and there are lots of other insights and seeings that are waiting to happen.
So, seeing
no self is a shattering of the core belief. But now, when the system has to rearrange itself into the new way of understanding. Many things have to be re-examined and seen differently. So it’s just the beginning. There’s a lot more coming up, and it’s a wild ride. So whatever comes in is the right thing. So there are really 2 things going on here. The recognition and clearing. Clearing on many levels, on all the levels and clearing, is becoming aware of the old patterns of the old behaviors, old thoughts, old emotions, and that awareness itself is like a light that shines onto that pattern. So the pattern can self-release and correct itself.
So this is a long job, and maybe I continue still until we die. I don’t know. Well, in the beginning, it may be very intense. Or maybe in the beginning, it’s blissful and happy, but at some point it comes back. The all the junk that still needs to be taken care of comes back to be taken care of.
So now liberation is not a recognition. Liberation is having more and more space and feeling free, feeling free and comfortable in your own body, in your own mind, in your own emotions, in your own story, in your own environment, in your relationships, in your views on others and the world and the wealth and everything. It’s a big job.
I’m going to skip questions about art and spirituality and the Oily Witch because nobody ever called me Oily Witch except for that article. Now, I never heard that.
Balancing different roles. Well, everyday life is just a flow of events and activities. And it’s just whatever is arising in the moment. So there is nothing to balance. Really, it’s just being present to what is here right now, like, for example, now, I’m recording this interview, and after I finish, I don’t know what will happen. Maybe I’m going to go and feed the cat, or I need to go outside and do something, or I don’t know. So it’s kind of being fresh and just being present to what is arising. I don’t know what will happen. and there is no need to balance, because the balancing different roles is kind of mind’s imagination of how I should be, how what I should do. There is no more of that. It’s just meeting this moment as it is, so, and it’s already full balance and complete in itself.
Next question, evolution of liberation unleashed. Yes, there were a few of us in the beginning of the liberation unleashed, and Elena Nizinski was one of them, and we published the 1st book together, and it was made of the 1st conversations that we ever had with seekers who saw what we were pointing to. Yeah, we were friends for a few years, and later we kind of went separate ways. And that’s that liberation unleashed evolved. It’s approach. Well, it kind of. We try to keep it. We try to keep the approach the same as it was because it works. The approach is, the guide is only asking questions. The guide is not a teacher. It’s not saying how it is. It’s not describing their experience, but asking questions that the seeker has to look into themselves, find the solution to their question, find the answer, and come back. And then they get a new question based on what they said. So this approach is still on and still working.
The evolution is that now, with the availability of Zoom and interviews, and having live conversations, it’s so much easier to sit with somebody for an hour or an hour and a half and point them life and then see their reactions and responses to life. It’s so much richer because it’s not just words being exchanged. It’s also the energy and something else going on there. So that’s the evolution. It’s still there are a lot of guides who work only on typing, just writing in the Forum. And it’s wonderful. And it works. But I think that’s the first stage and the second stage, you know, when somebody becomes good at it, they can try and do the video calls.
As for the future directions, I hope that it will stay the same. It will continue to be the best service available for free for those seekers who are willing and ready to question the core belief, and I hope that there will be more guides coming in. And they will continue going until the service is still needed. That’s the future.
Yes, there were a lot of challenges within the community, and with different people coming in with different ideas. And we evolved as a community, and at the moment everything seems well and good, and people are still coming and joining and guiding. So that’s the most important thing. There were challenges for me as well that this is going to sound funny. When I wanted to go to, when I was invited to go to a retreat which was involving psychedelics, a lot of members were really scared and protested and didn’t like that idea that I would go there. I don’t know why, maybe fear. Maybe not ready. Maybe it seemed like a not good idea for them, but I couldn’t be stopped at that point. Few members left because they couldn’t handle the idea that I wanted to smoke the toad medicine, or how they would be seen if I do that. But that was many years ago, and this is one of the big challenges. I guess it doesn’t matter now, really.
And at the moment I’m not working on a forum with the Liberation unleashed day. Have my own. my own shop. Let’s say that I work with people individually and with groups, and offering the service of guiding and supporting. And I meet people online, not in person. At the moment, I meet people online on zoom every day. And the measure of success for me is when they finally say, yes, I see it wonderful. That’s one big step. And another thing is, when I open the call and they say, Yeah, I feel great. I feel my week was awesome. I enjoyed it because before they would be distressed crying, trying to figure things out, and they didn’t have tools on how to meet.
What is arising. So for me with the success is double, is when they feel grateful for seeing through the self illusion, and when they know how to deal with everyday challenges, with emotions, with the old stories, and we can work with them together until they kind of get it, and they can do it by themselves for themselves. It’s kind of like, you know. Teaching people how to approach their own invitations. The challenges that life is bringing and following that path by themselves for me that success.
Well done! Oh, my own, my own process! Well, for many years, my own process was meeting people, and being of service and learning how to meet them where they are. I developed this deep looking method, and for me, that was my own process as well as helping others at the same time, because when people were coming to me with a particular question, it would resonate, and it kind of work with them and for myself and for them and for everyone else, kind of. So my practice is still going. As I say, I work with people every day, and I learned to hold the space in such a way that whatever is coming up to meet me, self-resolves in some way. Maybe in one session, maybe in 10, maybe in a hundred. But something happens, and my practice, what I do, I like to read some books in the morning, some wise words, or something that resonates. I like to do some energy healing time to time. I also have a lot of cats. So serving them is also a big big teaching and learning and being of service to these innocent, wonderful animals.
That is kind of my practice, too. I like listening to sound healing tracks. I wouldn’t call it music, maybe some music. But I don’t listen to music anymore. Just sound healing or time to time. I have a meditation, or even EFT tapping session for myself. And what else? A big part of my journey was light. I have this device called Agna Light, and it’s an incredible creation by this guy called Guy Harriman, and he created this device that pulses light different frequencies, and you kind of meditate with that, or lay down under it. And it gets into a deep, wonderful state. So that was a big part of my clearing, cleaning, purifying stage.
And yeah, my journey is still ongoing every day. It’s a fresh day, and something is coming up, some new people coming in. Or something I resonate with, and I see new things and new ways to express new ways to guide. It’s very interesting. So that’s it.
And the last question, the broader vision. I see that there are a lot of people on this path and awakening path. And I hope that people now wake up get settled in. Enabling, enabling, enabling other people to wake up. Showing the way just by being themselves, just by being openness. Compassion, kindness, love. That it’s affecting everyone else at the same time. So my vision is that time is needed for this process to complete itself. But it started. And it’s going strong. And there are so many people giving all kinds of services, all kinds of support, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. And more than we don’t even know yet.
So whatever is drawing you in, whatever is calling, that’s the way to go, and that’s just listening to your own inner wisdom and your own inner guidance. So by clarifying, by awakening, by becoming real. You and I and everyone else can support the whole of humanity and get everyone out into this lighter, happier, peaceful, joyful, balanced way of being, as we’re supposed to be.
Cultural impact. I don’t know. But no. I guess the more people come back to the natural way of being, into the balanced harmony is being, the better it is for everyone. It doesn’t matter on which culture, which country, or which political or religious system one belongs. Yeah, it’s affecting deeper aspects of us, and we can see how we can help and be of service to others.
And the message for the seeker. The message for the seeker is, if you are on this path, you already are awakening, and you already have everything you need, and it is your experience. So if you need a guide, get a guide. If you need to go into your meditation and stay with yourself for a while, do that. It doesn’t matter. It’s your path, you know what works for you. And you know, and just know that everything is unfolding as it should for you, uniquely, personally, exactly right. So you can trust the process and let it do whatever it needs to do. Kind of surrender to surrender to the truth. But to do that you need to be ready. And if you’re not ready, that’s okay. It’s good to know that it’s good to know and get ready. But once the call. Once the call is made, once you know that you cannot live without knowing who you are. What’s the truth? If you want awakening, you cannot live without awakening.
Yeah, take your time. Be kind to yourself, and it’s already on the way. It’s already calling you.
On the ultimate question. If you could distill the essence of your guidance, work in a single question that might catalyze recognition in others. Right?
It’s the eye that is running. The show is the eye in charge of what is happening.
Is there? I, as a separate entity from life, making life happen.
Thank you very much. I hope I answered everything for you. And yeah, I’m very excited about this, and thank you again for reminding me. I’m looking forward to reading the article.
Bye, for now.
The Three Transformations – Free Course
The ancient Chinese sages spoke of jing, chi and shen. The Hermeticists of old spoke of vital, astral and mental energies. Both spoke of ways to convert one energy into another. And the Three Transformations were born!
Ever wonder how to do this exactly? Wonder no more. It turns out this is not some mysterious thing that exists only for the greatest of saints. All the details behind how to convert one of the basic natal energies into another, why you would want to perform the Three Transformation and the various issues involved are included in this SixtySkills course.
We have a growing collection of free courses available on Perseus Arcane Academy. I am hoping to continue to extend these offerings in 2025.
One thing I have noticed, and this is common in many fields is that because the price of admission is free many people do not even practice what is taught in these courses! I have to say people charge for far less.
Two examples I will give here as to the value, the first ‘The Three Transformations’ this course provided to us by SixtySkills. This method is the most concise version of this practice you will find, I spent a lot of money back in 2012 getting to Thailand and learning directly from Sifu Mark Rasmus. I treasure this time, and one of the many skills he taught that week was the Three Transformations and the many ways you can use it and the many ways understanding this helps you understand other practices like those contained in Franz Bardon’s Initiation into Hermetics far, far better.
So, these courses, we provide free of charge, have far reaching value, but many just watch the introduction and assume as they understand it in theory that that is enough.
The same for our physical training provided by Chris Radnedge and Craig Mallet, these guys have put in decades of time to learn from the best. What you are getting is the condensed results of that work. I have lived in Asia for 20 years and I am still a bit jealous of the teachers these guys have had and the material they have managed to embody. I say all this to say we provide these courses in the hope they will be practiced NOT collected.
It is like having all the best books on how to be strong without doing any of the work. But the guy down the road who had no books, no equipment just got on and DID IT. This is the key in all of this, without the doing, the knowledge of energies, spirits, other worlds and dimensions is pretty meaningless in my opinion.
The Three Transformations: How to Convert Your Energies
The ancient Chinese sages spoke of jing, chi and shen. The Hermeticists of old spoke of vital, astral and mental energies. Both spoke of ways to convert one energy into another. And the Three Transformations were born!

This course details how to go from more gross, or physical, energies to more subtle energies and back again. It also discusses how to use these energies and what the various transformations do for you. Issue of passive, versus active, development and where to place the various energies are also brought up.
While many consider these things to be a part of a long dead past, the reality is that none of this stuff ever left humanity. It has been here all along. That is not to say it is easy to do or something to be taken lightly.
So, join SixtySkills today and learn how to engage in the fine art of the Three Transformations.
Who this course is for:
Anyone who want to learn the three transformations
Often so much time is spent searching for the way, the work is not done. This course solves that issue by providing a firm foundation from which to build. Though this is an introduction that does not mean that it lacks depth.
You might have heard of secret orders and mysterious groups with strange rituals, sordid psychic powers, aspiring mages and intellectuals with secret codes that only the initiate can begin to understand. They walk about with superhuman powers extracted from ancient tantric and hermetic texts, build fragrances that can make you fly, know words that can shatter the world when uttered, and govern all natural things under and above the sun.
Some books spit out. You find them and read them. You learn the formulas and spells and incantations and meditations powerful enough to change the course of the world and bring back a dead pharaoh. You try it, not sure of what you are doing, but nothing ever happens.
The premise of this course is that magic is the science of causing change according to awareness, and it trains silence, quietness and stillness as means to access and cultivate different states of consciousness and a gateway to connect with objects of perception where to operate changes.
All cultural aspects, be they Hermetic, Egyptian, Buddhist, Tantric, or religious kinds of yoga, are ignored so we can focus directly on their purpose with integrity and effortlessness. You will find no lexicon you cannot master, no locks you cannot open, no paths barren by the elites. At the end of the thirteen sessions, magic will hold no mystery to you. It is at this time, that you can start practicing those books, that appeared to lead to nothing, with success.

Perseus decided to invite Chris to share his work on our platform as being based in Asia with a background in various traditional martial arts we recognised the quality of his material. After speaking to Chris and discovering his martial history we were very keen to share his work here as he has both the depth of traditional training and the experience of working in the modern world as a medical practitioner. He knows how to make this material work and be understood for the western mind.
Welcome to this free course, generously donated by Craig Mallett, focused on the practice of “soaking the mind into the body.” In a recent interview with Perseus Arcane Academy, Craig shared insights into this approach, which explores the connection between mind and body in a practical, grounded way. This course is designed to give those curious about his work an introduction to his ideas and techniques. Whether you’re exploring new ways to connect with yourself or simply interested in learning more, this is a great place to start.
About Craig, in his own words…
I started exploring self-cultivation methods in 2003. I have always had a burning curiosity to discover and explore myself and the world around me, starting with the immediate reality of my body. I had many periods where I did the ‘deep dive’ into arts that would help satiate this curiosity, including almost a decade training traditional internal arts with my first internal martial arts teacher, and another decade with a second Daoist teacher (see below for more details). Having a lot of experience with many different modern modalities, mixed with the more traditional studies I have undertaken, brings me a unique vantage point.
I specialize in teaching internal and external physical practices, helping people to explore and restore their relationship to their body and internal landscape, and how that landscape relates to the external world. I aim to teach methods that are sustainable and can be used by anyone from any culture, tradition or lineage, with the idea that these qualities can be explored as a layer over whatever activities each person enjoys pursuing. I have done my best to make my teachings of this complex topic as simple and clear as possible so they are accessible to everyone.
I hold classes on the Sunshine Coast (Australia) and teach workshops around Australia and internationally. I teach online through a variety of avenues, including an online or in person student program, as well as online courses for people who want to get a taste for a more specific part of the training.
I am also trained in both traditional and modern healing methods, which, along with my significant history of working with the physical form, has given me a potent skill set for dealing with physical, emotional and mental troubles. I am in the progress of adding to my skills by studying Traditional Chinese and Daoist Medicine, along with Bazi, Feng Shui and more.
Clint Sabom – The First Three Steps of Initiation into Hermetics
With Initiation Into Hermetics, Franz Bardon has created a masterpiece of magickal ascension, giving all the necessary instructions and theory to rise to adepthood. The book itself has an energy all to its own. However, getting through the steps of Initiation Into Hermetics can prove to be difficult, arduous work for many. It’s tempting to slack off on the exercises when life seems to get in the way. It’s common to stay on one or two steps for years on end or indefinitely. Most people that start the work never seem to get through the first three steps.
This class is designed to walk you through each step, and share with you my own experience of going through the first three steps. Yes, there are shortcuts, hacks, and additional tips for achieving magickal equilibrium. I share what has worked for me. The class is simple to get through, but it gives you a core foundation to work with in your magickal ascension.
I will remain available to all students via email to answer any questions you may have. Come take this journey with me!
Before we begin let me remind all students again that this is a doing course, it is purposely spread over 2-week periods as most people do not lack actual ability but lack the discipline to actually complete something, to repeatedly do something over a period of time. So this is the challenge for you, can you complete this regardless of your mind saying there is no need to? If you can complete this course, then you can go onto other courses here or elsewhere and know that you have what it takes to complete them and be successful. To follow through on a decision with actions.
You see many collect information, equating knowing it with being able to do it. So sadly, even after decades of this approach they still have very little to show for it other than a mindset that says, ‘I know it’. Yes, but can they do any of it?
Build the Foundation
In this course you will develop all the foundation skills required for magic, meditation and energy work. You will touch each skill and get to know it. You will spend 2 weeks on every lesson. So, there is no rush, the course is 10 Lessons long and after lesson 1, all other lessons are released to you in 2-week increments.
This book covers aspects of The Key to True Quabbalah, by Franz Bardon, and expands them. It is divided into four parts that serve the magician, the theurgist and the learning quabbalist.
How the Universe Works: Evolution. Now we’re coming to the end of our three-part series on how the universe works. Interestingly enough, the universe itself does evolve. Based off my meditative experiences, there have been at least three prior incarnations of the universe as we know it now. What those were like and what that entailed—we’ll be getting to in a minute. But it’s important to remember that when you’re talking about how the universe works, first we’ve addressed the issue of the path of Enlightenment: how you take the disparate or individual pieces of reality and combine them back together to reach this undifferentiated whole. Now, outside of that, we also talked about the path of manifestation, where you take this undifferentiated whole and make it into little individual pieces so you can express individual ideas and concepts.
But why is this happening? Well, it turns out the universe does in fact evolve, and it’s this continual cycle of recreating undifferentiated reality and going back down into manifestation over and over again. Now, of course, this happens over a very long period of time—far longer than any one individual lifetime. How does this work? It happens as a result of the collective development of everything in the universe over a very long period of time. Because of this, human beings, amongst other things, incarnate because they’re part of that process of evolution that impacts the entire universe.
Prior Periods
This is a pretty curious thing because when you talk to people who have awareness of past lives or of the process of incarnating, sometimes they’ll talk about how they clearly incarnated here in the here and now because they wanted to achieve something or experience something that was part of their individual evolution. However, when you add all of this up and combine it back together again, that undifferentiated whole that we talk about in the enlightenment state actually changes a little bit. Pretty curious, right? Now, when it changes enough, the universe has to be remade. That’s an interesting thing to consider: your personal development is also part of everything else in the universe and results in a change in what that undifferentiated whole—or enlightenment state, or godhead, or Nirvana, or true da, or whatever else you want to call it—is. Very, very interesting.
At least three prior periods have existed. I’ll describe what some of these are like in a minute, but it’s important to remember that when reality changes enough, the rules that originally applied don’t work very well or don’t apply anymore. The thing that’s really important to keep in mind when we’re talking about these prior incarnations of the universe is that quite literally the laws of physics weren’t the same. We’ll get to some examples of that in a moment. These are places where a modern human mind literally could not exist because we’re designed for this universe, not what came previously.
Now, if you’re familiar with the works of John Michael Greer—who wrote a book called Circles of Power among many others—one of the things he described in there is that occasionally you can come across what they call a shard or an incongruent piece of reality that was left over from this prior form of reality. Whether these things are evil or not isn’t really a valid question; what they are, however, is completely destructive to a modern human being, much in the way of placing your physical body inside the center of a star would be. It’s simply not compatible with our level of reality.
What’s interesting about this is these things can be encountered to a limited degree upon the astral because, again, the astral is a timeless place. But the interactions with this stuff were generally counterproductive to the individual involved. For those of you familiar with the Cthulhu series by H. P. Lovecraft, well, you’re familiar with that. Lovecraft quite possibly describes what happens to a human being—in terms of his personal life—when they accidentally project their mind into one of these spaces. You know, H. P. Lovecraft was mentally ill and ended up dying quite early because of that experience, to a degree. The description of the Conan tales could be another example of this because, here’s the thing: most people who encounter these things do it accidentally—often through drug use—but a lot of times they’re just very gifted in a psychic kind of sense and they don’t have much training. This means when they encounter things like this, it can be quite corrosive and damaging to them over time.
So, the key point to keep in mind is: in these prior incarnations of the universe, the laws of physics were different and, however they were structured, they were not designed for a human being as we know human beings to exist. Because of that, exposure to these things—to the degree it’s possible—is quite corrosive. Keep in mind all the stories that you hear about occasionally, where someone will be mining someplace and they’ll drill down several thousand feet and find some weird artifact. What usually gets left out of the story is that if people have routine contact with those artifacts, they tend to end up going crazy or dying. A lot of the early stories about egyptology could probably provide some interesting parallels as well.
Viewing the Incarnation
Alright, so now we’re getting to the part where a lot of people are excited about to go: “Okay, what were these places or these incarnations of reality like?” Well, I’ve had the occasional interaction with these things over my 30-year meditative career, and I’ve spoken to various teachers about this, and none of us can seem to come up with a good reason why this happened or even what it means. What I will tell you is I basically saw two of at least three prior incarnations. Now, the incarnation prior to the one that we live in right now—if you’re familiar with Michael Moro’s Eric of Melone series—looked remarkably like that in many ways. It was a place that was ruled by mostly nonhuman entities who were humanoid in shape. Human beings were definitely further down the pecking order, and these entities were magically empowered in a way that they ended up destroying their own universe.
Viewing that incarnation of reality was uncomfortable—not just because of what I saw there, but because the physics weren’t the same. Squeezing my mind into that space in order to perceive what was going on was physically uncomfortable, and while sometimes it was interesting, it was often kind of graphic and disturbing, and more than anything, it just hurt to do.
The incarnation prior to that, which I saw, was really disturbing. It physically hurt to look at it because, again, whether it had five dimensions or three or four—whatever our physical structure or our mental minds were built for—it wasn’t designed for being in that space. It was interesting in that it was largely populated by these gigantic, almost fish-like creatures. It felt like everything was swimming through some kind of fluid, and it was this continual cycle of attacking, destruction, eating, consuming, and fear. Literally, it hurt my mind to perceive this at all. It was extremely damaging—even now, thinking about it, I’m starting to get this weird kind of feedback headache. So again, it’s not a region that we were designed to have any real interaction with. And again, these were highly magically empowered entities, as far as I could tell, and they ended up destroying their universe once again. What happened before that, I’m not too sure about, but based on the amount of discomfort it took me to go back just two cycles, I don’t think I’d really want to even take a hard look at what happened before that.
End Times
This brings us to our final point: it’s very unclear when this happens again. Now, you know, this whole “Looney Tunes theory” of the world is that it’s coming to an end, and it happens over and over again. It’s clearly imprinted in the human psyche. But hey, they had this in the year 1000, they had this in the year 2000, you’ve got the guys going on and on about how climate change is going to destroy everything—and before that it was nuclear war, and so on and so on. While this revelation, this end times way of looking at the universe, may ultimately be real in a certain sense, and that eventually this universe will come to an end and need to be remade once consciousness within it changes to a point where its current incarnation doesn’t serve it very well, nobody knows when the hell this is going to happen. And I’m pretty sure it’s not going to happen anytime soon. So, again, the whole end times thing—while in some regards it may be ultimately true that the universe will die and be remade—the idea that this is happening on any kind of timeline that anybody can predict, let alone that it’s going to happen anytime soon, is completely nonsensical.

Welcome to the second part in our three-part series on how the universe works, specifically the path of manifestation. Now, the path of manifestation is just that—it’s about bringing things into existence. Another way of saying that is taking this undifferentiated level of existence, that non-dual level, the god, go-head Divine Providence, the true Nirvana—whatever you want to call it—and breaking it down into more discreet, separate pieces to allow reality to express itself.
Number one, this is going to be a more quantitative approach to things than qualitative, which is a fancy way of stating it’s going to be more power-oriented. Power, in this regard, is very, very important. All of the different things you need to do to express power have to be well done, fully engaged, and strong in order to bring things into manifestation. In the SixtySkills system, or IIH from Franz Bardon, we talk about the importance of body training. This is a key component to manifestation; if you haven’t done this kind of work, manifestation for the most part isn’t going to work very well – this aspect is dealt with in the Master Course tackling physical development from various angles. But I’ll get to some specifics regarding that as well.
Single-Point Focus
Two, there’s going to be a big—pun intended—focus on single-point of focus exercises. If you look at masters of physical manifestation—and I’m talking about the examples where we can determine this actually happened and wasn’t some kind of scam—all the practitioners have something in common. They tend to be very advanced practitioners of single-pointed focus exercises or sahati-type exercises. You need to be, pun intended, on point regarding all of those because it’s interesting in that you’re taking this undifferentiated, diffuse level of reality and turning it into something concrete. Just as the example of carbon being compressed in order to create a diamond, well, you end up with a very similar phenomenon here. Simply put, you need to be able to hold your attention at the tip of a pen, and you need to be able to do this for extended periods of time in order to take these kind of ethereal ideas and turn them into something solid. This seems to be one of the key components of that. For what it’s worth, in the various intelligences I’ve spoken to over the years—or IE Spirits regarding physical manifestation—they have all been very adamant: you need to be able to hold single-pointed focus for about an hour, and that can be done, but it may take you a few years to get there.
Balancing Manifestation and Enlightenment
So if you’re interested in physical manifestation or the path of manifestation, get cracken three. And this shouldn’t need to be said, but some of our more mentally oriented folks seem to miss the point on this one: the path of manifestation is about getting things done. This is important because a lot of traditions, particularly out of Asia, overvalue the path of enlightenment. Now, they do this at the expense of the path of manifestation, the result of which is those societies can have very enlightened people but their technology is often primitive in comparison.
Let’s talk about this a little bit. Buddhism, for example, is again very much a path of enlightenment type thing that doesn’t pay a whole lot of attention to the path of manifestation. But if you go to ancient China, who invented writing, meters, engineering, medicine—well, that was the dos. And in dosm, the path of manifestation and the path of enlightenment are equally valued. This is also true in Western meditation or what’s known as hermetics. In hermetics, the path of enlightenment and the path of manifestation are considered equally valuable.
Now, there is something important here that has to be kept in mind: if you’re just doing manifestation, it’s easy to get sidetracked and never work on enlightenment. In theory, the best approach is to pursue enlightenment first because, honestly, it shouldn’t take much more than a year or two, and then work on manifestation. Why? Well, if you’ve had that enlightened experience, you’re then in contact with your true inner nature—some people would call this God. This is going to reduce the frequency with which you, to be blunt, act like a douchebag. If you just pursue the path of manifestation, it’s easy to never get around to doing the enlightenment work—that’s really what it comes down to. But if you don’t pursue manifestation, you have no ability to express your enlightenment. Again, that’s that kind of chicken-and-egg, circular, firing squad problem. The bottom line is: to be a fully developed human being, you need to do both, but ultimately, the path of manifestation is about getting things done. For what it’s worth, from what I’ve gathered over the years—last three decades of the meditative experience incarnating in the here and now in this world that you and I live in—is very difficult to do. Number one, there’s a long waiting line in order to be able to do so; number two, there’s a long waiting line; and number three, if you choose to do nothing with your life when you have the opportunity to do something with your life, it would appear the punishment for that in the afterlife is quite severe. This is not a place where you just hang out. Along those lines, I’ve frequently seen people who achieved a certain level of enlightenment and then basically died shortly thereafter—they weren’t doing anything here, so there was no point in them hanging around. The path of manifestation is about getting things done; keep that in mind.
The Mechanism of Expression
What’s the most common method for engaging the path of manifestation? The most common path for doing this is to place an idea, thought form, mental construct—if you will—on the astral level of existence. If you do this often enough and you pump enough energy into it long enough, generally speaking, that thing that you’re picturing will come to pass; it will actually happen. This is one of the reasons why rich people tend to stay rich, poor people tend to stay poor, sick people tend to stay sick, weak people tend to stay weak, and strong people tend to stay strong—because they’re subconsciously putting this picture of what they want or what they perceive themselves to be into the astral, and it feeds itself. Pretty simple. You know, Arnold Schwarzenegger was by a pool with reg Park, the most famous bodybuilder of Arnold’s early career, and he talked about having this vision that he was a king on a mountain, on a throne, and all these other kinds of things happened. Those kinds of positive visualization drills—lots of these manifestation experts give you—they work. You have to give it the effort.
The Bottleneck
Now we’re about to get to the catch part of this in a moment, but that’s the most common approach for manifestation magic. However, now we get to my favorite part of the path of manifestation—it’s called the bottleneck. If you want to manifest something in your life, you have to give it a mechanism for doing so. As one manifestation expert once said, you can work the most kickass Jupiter ritual you want, but if you’re a bum living on a street corner, the best you’re going to do is find a wallet with a couple hundred bucks in it. Why? Because that’s all of the work you’ve done to give expression to that energy that you just put out into the subtle worlds. If you want to physically manifest something, you have to give it a mechanism of expression. No mechanism of expression, no expression. And I can tell you, if you put all of this work into the subtle world through ritual or internal power and you don’t give it a mechanism of expression, you’re going to fall prey to a lot of delusions—you’re going to have a lot of visions—all of this, because that energy has to bleed out somewhere. It can’t just stay static in one place; it has to move, has to express itself. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to express itself in the way you necessarily want it to.
When I was working with Jupiter rituals a couple of years ago, I had this very intense vision of being in Paris for Fashion Week—pred-aorte type stuff—and in the crowd with all these celebrities and all this other kind of stuff. Fine, well, eventually I was featured in a documentary that was never released. Here’s the thing: I’m not an actor, I have no connections to Hollywood, I am not part of the Jet Set, I am not part of the fashion scene. So no matter how strongly I manifested that vision, without becoming those other things, a small indie documentary that was ultimately never released was as close to that as I could get. It was a great experience, and being on set was a lot of fun, but again, if you want something to manifest, you have to give it a mechanism of expression, or it doesn’t happen.
That said, using things like manifestation magic through the path of manifestation—wealth magic and all this other kind of stuff—can greatly accelerate your rate of progression. If you’re willing to do the work, you wind up with that chance meeting with a big donor in an elevator; you run into another individual working on something comparable to what you’re working on; you get together—everything happens. But you have to do the work, and this leads to Part B of the bottleneck issue.
Physical Manifestation and the Final Challenge
Physical manifestation is physical manifestation in a real setting—a sheet of paper on fire, for example. That kind of thing, yeah, it happens. I’ve never met anybody who had an innate ability at it. I’ve had many encounters with people who’ve had experiences with it. This is kind of the problem in that, like with a lot of esoterica, if you don’t have the right training methodology, you can get bottlenecks at certain levels of reality. The biggest one we have is the bottleneck of subtle energy at the astral or vital or near physical—not being able to translate directly into the physical world. And this is confusing because the theory works perfectly well on the way up the path of enlightenment. You make energies more diffuse, you gather things together—boom—it kicks over; everything works as it should. On the way back down, from the non-dual to the osic to the mental to the astral, that whole process works exactly as it should. But that final step between the astral or vital and the physical seems to take a little something else. So single-pointed focus exercises are certainly a part of this. The people I’ve met who pulled this stuff off have pulled it off occasionally, but they can’t generally do it on command. Maybe one of you wonderful people out there can figure out what the missing ingredient in the secret sauce is.
We are going to discuss how the universe works and the path of enlightenment. This is going to be a three-part series where I will first discuss the path of enlightenment, then the path of manifestation, and finally, how the universe, for lack of a better term, evolves.
Because very little of the magical or meditative path can be measured scientifically, the community is full of a lot of nonsense. This is a fact. You have to be very careful about this. The number one sign of this is people who default to philosophy rather than mechanism when it comes to enlightenment
Bob – Founder of Sixty Skills
The Path of Enlightenment
Some would refer to this as the upward path. That term works well enough, and there are reasons why you would want to describe it this way. However, the first thing you need to keep in mind is that the process of enlightenment is mechanical. Ignore the philosophy attached to it. In fact, I will go a step further and say that if you’re inquiring about enlightenment and the person you’re talking to automatically defaults to philosophy, ignore them. Additionally, if they get into emotion, ignore them again.
Your perception of what is happening needs to be fundamentally grounded in the mechanics of how to make it happen. This is why, as I discuss often discuss, the true enlightenment state—beyond energy, beyond time, beyond spatial constraint, beyond sensation, and beyond emotion—is a thing that can only be defined in the negative. This is one of the few things that the great saints and yogis of all traditions seem to agree upon. From that standpoint, it needs to be taken very seriously. If someone starts talking about other aspects of it—things that can be positively defined—they are wrong. If they go into the philosophy of it, quite frankly, they are wasting your time. Since it is something that can’t be defined, it is by definition only something that can be experienced. Philosophy isn’t going to help you get there, and people who fall back on it are usually trying to sell you something.
Because very little of the magical or meditative path can be measured scientifically, the community is full of a lot of nonsense. This is a fact. You have to be very careful about this. The number one sign of this is people who default to philosophy rather than mechanism when it comes to enlightenment.
The Process of Enlightenment
The process of enlightenment is about taking the differentiated pieces of reality and putting them back together in order to reach this undifferentiated state. The best way I can describe this is that it’s akin to having a puzzle on the table—one of those jigsaw puzzles with hundreds of little pieces. But here’s the thing: when you put the picture back together, the picture then disappears.
This is important to understand. As you take all these differentiated pieces of reality—sensation, sight, sound, emotion, concepts, mental constructs, and even Aasha itself—and put them back together in your mind’s eye, it generates a lot of light, brilliant white light in fact. This is why people talk about the light of enlightenment. However, that light is actually the step before the final step because the light, since it can be defined, isn’t actually the endpoint. The step beyond that is where that jigsaw puzzle in front of you disappears. That is the final stage.
What happens when you go there seems to be really important, but again, nobody can positively define what that is. One telltale sign of someone who has accomplished this is that they have very little energy around them. Why? Because that energy has crossed over that barrier to one degree or another. Someone who is energetically powerful can have power, and power is useful, but that is not a sign of complete enlightenment. You must have that energy merging back together in order to get to that next step. It’s a bit of a conundrum, but again, it’s mechanical. Keep this in mind—you are just taking lots of little pieces and putting them back together again.
Why is This Hard?
As reality comes from this completely undifferentiated state and starts breaking down into smaller and smaller pieces so it can express itself, things get sticky. They get emotionally sticky. Anyone who has ever had a deep-seated emotion from trauma or even happiness can tell you that once it really takes hold, completely getting rid of it is really hard. These differentiated pieces of reality can also take on a kind of consciousness of their own. They are not willingly going to give that up either. So putting all that back together gets really hard.
This makes reassembling things back together again difficult. Sometimes the pieces don’t want to go back together. Sometimes you’re holding onto them too hard—for good reasons or bad reasons. You still have a physical existence to maintain, and being wary of people in a dangerous society is a survival skill you may not want to let go of altogether.
Different Approaches to Enlightenment
Classically speaking, there are generally two approaches: the brute force (overwhelming power) method and the finesse method.
The Brute Force Method
The overwhelming power method is the most common because learning it is quicker. However, applying it requires you to do a lot of things that are frequently unpleasant, such as:
Retaining your sexual essence for long periods of time.
Adopting a vegan diet to facilitate energy flow.
Engaging in hours of concentrated practice.
Practicing in tightly enclosed spaces, like a cave, where energy builds up.
This approach is common because it is easier to pull off, though it can be physically and mentally demanding. When reality recombines, the experience can be disturbing and difficult. It is also generally uncontrolled, which is why many who experience enlightenment don’t know exactly how it happened.
The Finesse Method
The finesse approach takes a long time to pull off. This method involves projecting your mind into different levels of reality in a focused manner. In the Sixty Skills system or Franz Bardon’s work, this involves the vital, astral, mental, and cosmic levels. You learn how to neutralize all the forces at each level of reality, which can take years. However, this makes them looser and easier to elevate back up into the undifferentiated whole.
As you get better at this process, you eventually join all these energies together, which leads to the final stage before everything disappears. Because you have learned to work with and release these forces individually, it becomes an ability—something you can do at will. In meditation traditions, this is incredibly rare.
The Final Step
Now, you reach the point where all energies merge together. To cross into true enlightenment, everything must disappear. Personally, my experience is that as these energies merge upwards into one, I enter a space of extreme brilliance. At some point, I lose sensation of my body and become the light. Reality breaks down. I reach a boundary layer where energy slowly processes through, and at a certain point, I disappear.
I don’t know how long I am gone for, but it is not the same as falling asleep. That is the true enlightenment state—the Nirvanic realm beyond energy, sensation, emotion, and spatial constraint. What happens there seems to be important, but it is difficult to define. The more I practice, the more repeatable it becomes.
Once this happens, many people quit. Depending on their health and well-being, they might decide to die at that point. However, for those who wish to continue, there is also the path of manifestation—the journey back down, where you take this undifferentiated whole and start breaking it down so that things can manifest.
This will be the topic of the next discussion on the path of manifestation. Learn more about the methods involved in doing all this yourself here.

Many thanks to Sixty Skills for the following information. Astral Travel, Astral Projection and Out of Body travel and Mental Wandering does not have to be something that is always elusive, there are other approaches that can bring you success, the following being one of them. (Franz Bardon Practitioners: Yes within Franz Bardons IIH, Astral Travel is something quite specific, but what most think of as Astral Travel is more like Mental Wandering as described by Franz Bardon.)
What is the Zero Point Method?
What is the zero point method? The zero point method is a technique by which a practitioner can separate their mental body from their physical body to facilitate mental wandering. At a certain point, a related technique can be utilized for astral travel. However, as discussed in this curriculum many times, mental wandering and astral travel are vastly different things.
That said, for those who have struggled for years to engage in out-of-body experiences and failed, this is also the technique for you. Quite simply put, people who are exceptionally well-grounded and very much in connection with their body frequently have a very difficult time engaging in mental wandering. This technique does not use the head to project the consciousness from the body. This is the typical way that most schools attempt to do this. If somebody is exceptionally well-grounded, if their energy sticks very close to the astral, separating their mental body out can be quite difficult.
The zero point exercise utilizes the solar plexus instead. By utilizing the solar plexus, this facilitates a much easier method by which you can transfer your consciousness. As such, people who have practiced the transference of consciousness exercise, as well as the grain of sand exercise, will find that in many ways this is simply a deeper or more elaborate way of engaging in that.
As mentioned in the requirements to do this, you are going to need to be able to perform the three releases or the three transformations, as well as the establishment of equilibrium. This establishment of equilibrium, in particular, seems to be the most important part for well-grounded people to project their consciousness. This may, in fact, be a result of an excess of earth element in the body. It’s really quite hard to say, but the fact of the matter is this technique will work for people for whom all of the other conventional techniques have failed.
I say that not from a theoretical standpoint but from the standpoint of somebody that tried for years to use conventional out-of-body projection techniques and failed at them. At best, it was taking me two to four hours a day of consistent practice with those techniques to have any kind of projection at all. Whereas now, after a certain amount of time, I can basically do this at will. So, the zero point technique is out-of-body projection for people who cannot out-of-body project. It does have a variety of requirements that are substantial in nature, but it will work for anyone.
Your Astral Temple
We will now discuss the role of the astral temple in the zero point exercise. As mentioned earlier, the zero point exercise involves a projection into the solar plexus by which a practitioner can separate their mental body from their physical body. Since this is the primary use that most people have for this exercise, it is the one that will receive the most attention in this course of instruction. That said, there is a secondary application that, over the long term, may in fact even be more important.
Performance of this exercise results in a practitioner being able to establish their own personal temple space at the astral level. The advantage to this is that it is also grounded within their astral body and their physical astral and astral mental matrix. This results in an astral level temple that a practitioner can take with them. It becomes portable, and most importantly, it is something that you don’t need a fixed place to practice from. So, for those of you who have a more itinerant or wandering lifestyle, this is a very useful tool because it will allow you to enter a sacred space within your own body that you can take with you anytime you want.
This is also a technique that, over the last couple thousand years, has received a lot of use by people who have been incarcerated by the state for long periods of time or otherwise held prisoner and been unable to establish their own temple space. So, many of you will find this very, very important. The advantage of a temple space is the astral is one place where energy developed from yogic and meditative practice can be stored to be retrieved for use at a later point in time. While many schools make great use of the flow-through method or running energy through the body that is pulled from the universe or at the higher level from the akasha, the simple fact of the matter is having a storage space for energy can be very valuable.
Now, depending upon how this is done, other people may or may not pick up on a sense of power surrounding a practitioner. Some schools have techniques for mitigating this, others just don’t care, but the bottom line is this technique will allow you to build your own sacred space. It is essentially a pocket world on the astral plane. Where this becomes important is, as has been mentioned many times throughout this course, the big secret of magic is anything visualized and generated strongly enough long enough on the astral plane, assuming it is in fact physically possible and you are willing to do the corresponding work on the material plane to support it, will occur. So, simply said, if you generate something on the astral plane, it will manifest on the physical.
So, this is another advantage of having your own personal temple space. It supercharges your ability to act as a magician or, if you wish, a creator in the real world. So, this technique has a variety of uses, and it’s debatable as to which is more important. But to be able to do this, you have to be able to access the astral realm first, and this requires you to be able to separate your consciousness from your body. In this regard, the zero point method is hard to beat.
Why it Works
We will now discuss why the zero point method works. As mentioned early on in this course, the zero point method was traditionally utilized to generate an out-of-body experience for people that have great difficulty with this. Reasons for this vary, but in my experience, particularly people who are very well physically grounded or very well physically connected in their body tend to have a great deal of trouble separating their mental body from their physical body.
If you’re using a construct by which you are leaving directly from the head, this is essentially skipping a level in the energetic transference. You’re going from a vital or physical level directly to the mental level. For people who are well-grounded, their mental astral and physical bodies are exceptionally well connected by their astral physical and astral mental matrices. Skipping a step makes it very difficult for them to pull those apart and separate it out.
On the other hand, if you move the point of projection to the solar plexus and directly to the astral body, it doesn’t do that. Because the astral body branches into both the mental body and the physical body, it tends to make this much easier. That’s one aspect of why this technique has a high success rate, or let me rephrase that, a guaranteed success rate for people who traditionally had issues with this.
Other factors include that when performing this technique, you will also be beginning the technique by generating equilibrium using the four elements as a simple basic case. In most cases, people who are exceptionally well-grounded tend to have a lot of earth energy in their body. It’s one of the reasons why they’re very good at doing physical things and have exceptional memories because they ground everything down into the physical naturally. But because the majority of their energy has a condensing aspect to it, loosening those bodies to release the mind from the body is rather difficult.
By establishing equilibrium elementally—fire in the head, air in the chest, water in the abdomen, earth in the legs—this re-establishes the proper balance of the elements within the body, even if just for a short period of time. More importantly, it establishes a proper equilibrium or counterbalancing effects between the electric and the magnetic fields or fluids within the body. This is taking that person who’s exceptionally well-grounded from a more earthy or more magnetic internal energy to making it more electric. Even though, in fact, you’re really just reaching balance. At this balance point, that state of equilibrium, that is quite literally where all magic happens. At this point, the bodies open up fully, the tissues in the body relax, the physiology relaxes, and at that point, that’s where people can separate their mental body from their physical body.
People who are naturally ungrounded don’t tend to have much of a problem with this, as was stated earlier. People who are exceptionally grounded do, and I can tell you from personal experience, this was the technique that allowed me to master my out-of-body projection and more importantly, it eventually allowed me to project out of the head. Additionally, the solar plexus works as a kind of gateway to akasha in the physical body. This is not something that is particularly well understood, but it is one of the reasons why dysfunctions of the body involving the solar plexus are so frequently fatal. The simple fact of the matter is that part of the body generates a lot of physical level akasha, and this can, in turn, generate a lot of problems if someone is not prepared for that. So again, by generating lots of physical level akasha, an individual then makes it much easier for them to separate their mental body from their physical body. Once again, this aids out-of-body projection.
So, when using the zero point technology, the reason why it works is one, it addresses a nascent or natural elemental imbalance in the body. Two, it allows a practitioner to work with their own innate physical level akasha. And three, it teaches the body how to relax properly. So again, these are all really good and valuable things, but this is the reason why this technique will work where all others have failed.
What You May Find
We will now discuss what you may find when using the zero point method. As mentioned earlier, the zero point method allows a practitioner to establish an astral level temple within their own body. Or, if you wish, allows a practitioner to access a pocket world on the astral plane using the solar plexus. Either way, you are essentially going to a place on the astral that is not constrained by the element of time. As has been mentioned many times in this course, work that is the foundational characteristic of the astral plane is this sense of timelessness.
Now, in fact, that’s not entirely true. Time does functionally exist on the astral plane in a very limited and unusual manner, but for all practical purposes, it doesn’t. And for our purpose, this becomes important. Whether people choose to believe in reincarnation or not, or whether they choose to believe in prior past lives or not, is largely irrelevant. As one of my teachers once told me very bluntly, gravity will kill you just as easily if you believe in it or if you don’t. And such as it is with much involving metaphysics and esoterica in general. The reality is people lose sight of the physics part of the equation where we are simply trying to describe the world given a lack of concrete tools to employ to do so.
So, when you project into your solar plexus the first time and you go down into that internal astral level temple, you may find some things there. You may find some things that are a little confusing. You may find a bunch of things that look like you. You may find prior incarnations. You may find a very well-developed temple complex already there waiting for you. It really depends upon the individual, and again, it will vary quite a great deal based off of your belief system because your belief system will directly flavor what you can in fact perceive. But as a simple matter of fact, if you’ve gotten this far in the training in the 60 Skills program, there is a very high likelihood you have done this kind of training previously in other lives. Most people who have this kind of ability prepare some things for themselves in the future.
So, by projecting into this astral level temple, you may end up finding out quite a great deal about yourself that you had either suspected or wondered about for a very long period of time. This is an additional benefit of learning this technique. Now that said, one thing you should keep in mind that is very important: the life you are living right now is the only one you get right now. Whether prior incarnations set things up for you to operate a certain way in previous lives, whether you maybe made some deals in previous lives, whatever that may be, the fact of the matter is you have free will in the here and now.
So, if you find something in there that you’re simply no longer in agreement with or not in agreement with at all, you are under no imposition to continue down that path just because your prior incarnation was a famous herbalist in the Qiang Dynasty doesn’t mean you have to do that again. That was just what you chose to do in that life. Now, that’s not to say changing your mind might not be complicated or take a lot of effort. I can’t get you out of that, but what I am saying is don’t surrender your will to this sense of fate. This is a classical mistake many people make in metaphysics and in fact is highly counterproductive.
The reason for this is simple: the world changes a lot between incarnations. As someone who is trained as an historian, I’m here to tell you the world of more than a hundred years ago would be barely recognizable to most people walking around today. In completely, you they would be completely unable to understand the motivations of the people living at that point in time. The simple fact of the matter is the world changes a lot, and the further back in time you go with your incarnations, the more it changes. If you’re talking about prior ages in the earth and human development, even the laws of physics changed. So just because there’s something waiting for you in the temple that was arranged for you previously does not mean you are under any requirement to go along with it.
Frequently, most people find this tied into what they consider their life’s purpose, and this is a good thing. That said, you can change your mind. And if what those prior lives set up for you was simply too incongruent with what you’re attempting to do now, you should. A lot of people consider this heresy and getting involved in changing someone’s timeline or karma or whatever, but again, and I will be very clear about this, you only have the life you have right now. You will only have the life you have again in the future as another person. Your life in the past is finished. What this means is up to you, and how you care to comport yourself is up to you, but you have only now, and this is really important.
Now again, that said, there may be some things waiting for you in there that are very useful: reservoirs of power, gifts, books, infra-stored information, you name it. Take a look around and see what you can find. That said, you need to apply whatever is in there to the life you have today. That’s really the most valuable thing you can do. So, we talked a little bit about what you can find inside your astral temple. Additionally, keep in mind just because your astral temple is structured a certain way today does not mean it needs to remain structured that way in the future.
So, if you get in there and find there’s something you don’t like or an addition you want to make, do so. The simple fact of the matter is this is all entirely up to you. Also, keep in mind what you see and have access to inside your astral temple will have a lot to do with your beliefs in the here and now. And there may be parts of that temple that you don’t have access to for many years. It’s just the way it works, but it is in fact yours, so feel free to customize that any way you wish.
Finally, I’m going to bring up something that I personally find a little confusing in all of this. You see, technically speaking, your astral body dies within a couple of weeks of the death of your physical body because it is powered by breath, and when the breath ends, so does the body. Your mental body continues to exist in perpetuity, and that tends to be the thing that reincarnates into a new body. That said, there’s this thing known as necromancy. Necromancy is the magic of the dead. Interestingly enough, some part of us continues to exist and lead a parallel life after this physical body is gone. How that works exactly is not entirely clear to me, but it is something that you can explore. That said, there are a lot of quote-unquote creepy practices associated with necromancy. So, if you choose to get involved with this, I would only utilize your own personal reincarnations or people you are directly related to by blood.
But simply put, a part of us does seem to survive on the astral for an extended period of time, and I personally am not entirely sure what that means. So, there’s a little more information about how your astral temple works.
The Wall
We will now discuss the use of the wall in the zero point method. A curious thing that everyone I’ve ever met who used the zero point method found was that once they projected into their solar plexus into their astral level temple, everybody described this flat surface on a wall at some part of the temple. Seemingly, it appeared to face north if they were questioned regarding what direction it was in, but the simple fact of the matter is there is this odd flat, sometimes rectangular surface that’s quite large against the wall within their temple.
The wall is your access point to the akasha via the solar plexus, and this is very important because it’s this wall that ultimately allows you to project. I personally do is I project a screen of akasha onto this wall and then project my consciousness into that akasha. Other people use different techniques, but everyone seems to use this wall as an access point into their subconscious or an access point into the deep astral and eventually the mental. This is very important to you.
So, once you project down into your temple, take a look around. In most cases, the location of this is glaringly obvious. In my case, it’s an enormous fixture within this cave-type complex, but again, it tends to vary upon the individual. That said, directly in front of the wall, most people will usually find a variety of their prior incarnations standing around. Sometimes these things wish to talk to you, sometimes they simply wish to be left alone, a lot of times they look like statues. The fact of the matter is they’re all you or were you at one point in time. The only warning that I’ll give about this is that some of these personalities are going to be a little spicy.
The simple fact of the matter is metaphysicians or long-term practice practitioners of the yogic and meditative arts tend to have a rather sharp and profound personalities. If again, you have gotten this far in the course work, it’s because you have most definitely done this previously. So, keep in mind you don’t have to talk to these parts of yourself, but you can if you like. And keep in mind some of these things might attempt to reassert themselves in the here and now, and that is something you need to stop immediately. This is your life. Your prior incarnation had their life. This is now yours. This is not theirs to hijack or boss around or tell you what to do. They can be used for information, and frequently they’re quite helpful in this regard, but there are many stories about people learning very painful lessons associated with dealing with the past too much.
The simple fact of the matter is one of the reasons why we die is so we can let go of all of our baggage associated with that prior life. This astral level temple does a bit of an end run around this issue, and therein lies the danger. Just because you did something profound in a prior life doesn’t mean you’ve done anything profound in this life. This is your opportunity to advance yourself, and if you hold to the past too strongly, you’re not going to be able to do that. Now, these things tend to congregate around the wall as well. In my case, I see them kind of at the base of this giant kind of throne chamber thing. It doesn’t matter, but the bottom line is keep in mind when you face the wall, there’s going to be a lot of other things there that you can observe.
And again, as we discussed in the last chapter, you can also add things or, if you really care to, remove things from it as well. But ultimately, this wall is where you’re going to want to project your akasha in order to project out of your body. So just keep that in mind. It’s an interesting feature that almost everybody reports seeing in one form or another, and it’s usually glaringly obvious where it is.
Projecting from the Head
We will now discuss the transition to projecting from the head. All right, as was mentioned in the beginning of the course, the zero point method is out-of-body projection for people who can’t out-of-body project. That said, as you’ve probably found at this point in the 60 Skills curriculum, all of these individual skills—poor breathing, astral bathing, akashic energy, the elements, all of this—all of these respond to a stress adaptation cycle. You do something, you get tired, you take a break, you recover, and then when you go revisit it again, you’re better at it. Okay, that’s the way this works as well.
Now, I can’t tell you at what point in time you’re going to be able to project using the head as your center point of focus if you’ve traditionally had problems with this. All I can tell you is that everybody who’s utilized the zero point method of projection via the solar plexus eventually is able to project from the head. I would say practice with this method a couple times a week at a minimum, preferably daily for a good three months if you want. Take six months, then at that point begin the ball above head, you know, climbing up the ladder type technique of projecting out of the head to engage in mental wandering. At that point, you may find it very easy to do, and again, I’m not exactly sure why this happens. If it’s the result of some development of energy, a more a more equal distribution of energy within the body, better elemental balance, it’s really hard to say. But the bottom line is after you utilize the zero point method for anywhere from three to six months, you should have the ability to project from the head.
Now, ultimately when you’re using the zero point method, you can tune where you want to project your consciousness to, and we’ll get into that in a little bit. But the fact of the matter is it’s going to take at least two or three months for most people if they’ve had a hard time without a produ out-of-body projection from the head previously to be able to do this after utilizing the zero point method. Also, keep in mind that there’s an odd part of human psychology where if we fail at something repeatedly, some people develop this belief that they simply can’t succeed. So, out-of-body projection is one part the physics of learning how to do it, another part the technology of being able to do it, and a third very important part of belief that you can in fact do it.
So, if you’ve had a hard time with this previously, most people have created this negative feedback loop in the back of their head that says they can’t do it at all. So, because of the mechanics behind the zero point method, it can override this, but it may take a while for that knowledge to kind of sink into you so you can begin using the head to separate the consciousness from the body directly. Now, when you do this, you don’t tend to have the advantage of the astral temple, but it can be a little faster and results. You’re not using needing to use some intermediary steps, so there’s some advantages there as well. That said, everybody who’s used the zero point method long enough seems to develop the ability to project from their body, and it’s one of the main reasons why I recommend this technology to people. Just be patient is what I’m saying.
So, to sum up, if you’re going to use the zero point method to develop your ability to project your consciousness from your body using the head, it’s probably going to take a good three to six months worth of work. That said, don’t be surprised if it happens much quicker. I just can’t promise anything in that regard.
Places You Can Go
We will now discuss places you can go. The zero point method is a great way of projecting your consciousness from the body. Primarily, we’re using the wall by projecting our body into the akasha via that. So, this is an astral level segue into the akasha, and this is where things get really interesting. By projecting your consciousness into the akasha, you can then in turn tune where you want to go. Pretty cool. So, keep in mind you can use this form of out-of-body projection to explore anywhere in the physical world you care to go, anywhere in the astral world here to go. You can project yourself directly into the realms of the kabbalistic letters. You can project yourself into the planetary realms. You can even explore the kingdom of the dead via things like necromancy. Again, I’d hold off on that for a while, but the bottom line is this wall projection into the akasha allows you to tune your ultimate endpoint, and this is super important.
Because by choosing where you choose to go to versus just randomly happening the way it typically does in dreams, this makes this a useful tool. And ultimately, this is the important part about metaphysics. People spend too much time on the meta and not enough on the physics, and the reality is these things are designed as tools with which you can enhance your life. Whether this is pursuing the enlightenment path or the chain of manifestation or simply getting to know more about yourself and why you choose to do things, at the end of the day, it’s this tuning part that becomes important. And this will be demonstrated in an exercise a little later on in the course. So, keep in mind where you want to go when you use this technology. You can even write down a list of places you want to explore on a sheet of paper, and the more experience you have with this technology, the more useful it becomes to you. And I think this is ultimately the reason why a lot of schools used to use this technique. It was simply useful in working out the details of their day-to-day life.
So, keep in mind you don’t just have to go where you randomly project into. You can choose where you go, and the zero point method is an excellent way to do this.

Franz Bardon’s Kabbalah (Quabbalah) is a system of three-point meditation, is a universal teaching of great antiquity and depth. Throughout the ages, adepts of every time and place have achieved the highest levels of magical attainment through the understanding of sound, color, number and vibration as embodied in the Kabbalah. It involves working with 27 letters that represent different energies on multiple levels. This Kabbalah serves as an internal system of cultivating personal abilities to harness natural forces, rather than relying on external rituals or entities.

18. Sixty Skills Question and Answer
April 2024 – Q&A for Master Course and Kabbalah Students
October 2024 – Q&A for Master Course and Kabbalah Students
Planetary Kabbalah is an advanced esoteric practice that involves placing the energetic essences or “power aspects” of planets within different parts of one’s body in order to generate specific effects. This is akin to working with multi-letter Kabbalistic practices from the Franz Bardon lineage. However, to even begin studying Planetary Kabbalah, one must first master the foundational “mother letters” representing the elemental forces of fire, air, water, earth, and akasha, as well as develop the ability to discern between the vital, astral, mental, and akashic emanations of energy.
After gaining mastery over the elemental forces, the next step is to work through a series of planetary meditations, starting from the near-Earth planets out to at least Jupiter, or ideally all the way out to Pluto if taking a more modern approach. This process, which can take 18-36 months, allows the practitioner to intimately understand the individual effects of each planet’s energy upon the human body. Only then can one begin the actual practice of Planetary Kabbalah by emplacing the spirits or power aspects of planets, rather than their associated intelligences, into specific areas of the body.
One basic Planetary Kabbalah technique described is the “kabbalist’s or magician’s prayer,” where the Moon’s power aspect is placed at the solar plexus to generate an astral field, and the Sun’s power aspect is placed at the heart center to create a balanced, unified force. More advanced practices involve placing multiple planets within the body in specific configurations to produce desired effects, which is akin to “playing chords” with these planetary energies. After mastering Planetary Kabbalah, even higher levels exist, such as Zodiac Kabbalah, followed eventually by working with the energies of the Sephiroth itself. But first comes Planetary Kabbalah, something you will rarely see discussed let alone practically explained in the way Sixty Skills does in this course.

Emnasut Block Theory – A Brief Discussion of Emnasut
The ancient Chinese sages spoke of jing, chi and shen. The Hermeticists of old spoke of vital, astral and mental energies. Both spoke of ways to convert one energy into another. And the Three Transformations were born!
Ever wonder how to do this exactly? Wonder no more. It turns out this is not some mysterious thing that exists only for the greatest of saints. All the details behind how to convert one of the basic natal energies into another, why you would want to perform the Three Transformation and the various issues involved are included in this SixtySkills course.
At Perseus we offer a range of education from our in-depth interviews with many being from 5-10k words to our free courses that allow new students to start building a foundation with absolutely no cost. We then have more serious in-depth curriculums for those that wish to build specific skill sets based on the experiences of our teachers. These are all very much one way traffic in that you are provided with the material and then have to get on and do it. Now what you will see here with The School of Visionary Hermeticism is that it is a format that is built on a two-way traffic system. Teachings are provided and students need to do the work and obtain their own results in order to progress to the next semester. The school is led by Andre Consciencia and is the result of ongoing discussions between Perseus and Andre.
About the School
The School of Visionary Hermeticism is a specialized learning institution dedicated to exploring the mystical, philosophical, and esoteric traditions. It offers a structured curriculum for seekers interested in personal mastery. Drawing from magic, mysticism, and philosophy, students align with universal principles through technique and theory.
The school’s courses range from foundational spirituality and philosophy to advanced magical practices like ceremonial magic, quantum magick, and shamanism, paired with scientific principles and creative exploration.
Mission
The School of Visionary Hermeticism aims to guide persons to connect to Hermetic principles and share their knowledge through creative expressions like grimoires and magical systems, eventually integrating them as teachers.
The School of Visionary Hermeticism doesn’t promise answers. Instead, it offers keys to doors you may not yet have noticed and the knowledge to open them.
For those willing to explore, to reflect, and to engage, the question is not, “What will I learn?” but rather, “Who will I become?”
This is the heart of the School of Visionary Hermeticism: a place where the seeker transforms into the seer, and the seer into the visionary.
The Learning Curve
Students ground themselves in universal wisdom by connecting to humanity and the evolution of thought. Here, introspection becomes the mirror through which the seeker gazes into the world and finds the self reflected back.
Deepening the process, esoteric practices, astral exploration, and elemental integration guide the student into the heart of Hermeticism.
Then, students are led to the dance of Hermetic elements with quantum forces.
The Method
What sets the school apart is its fusion of structure and freedom. Every course is meticulous yet invites each student to bring their individuality into the fold. The student is not a passive recipient but an active co-creator.
In the curriculum below you will see two courses in each semester, these are completed at the same. One semester is 6 months.

In this interview, we explore Alex’s journey through the world of ceremonial magic and mystical practices. From a childhood surrounded by subtle spiritual influences to a deeper study of ritual magic and self-discovery, they share insights into their experiences, the traditions they’ve explored, and the personal transformations along the way.
PAA: Could you share some insights into your background and what initially drew you to magic and mystical practices?
I grew up with two parents who had a certain mystical background. On the surface they were very down to earth and ordinary people, but they had been part of a Magical circle which felt it was conducting spiritual warfare on the side of light. My Dad was a deep trance medium in the group and my Mum was an astral traveller. I had no idea about this background until I started to have certain unusual experiences as a teen and my Mum said “Talk to your father”. As I grew up, I had several ghostly encounters and helped resolve a few hauntings. On one such occasion I watched in disbelief as scratches appeared out of nowhere on my Dad’s skin as he attempted to ‘move on’ an unpleasant spirit. So although my upbringing was in most ways very normal, it was peppered with incidents that were totally bizarre. As I got older I read more and trained in various spiritual disciplines but never forgot my first lessons with my father.
As an adult I was a fan of Grant Morrison and his works on Chaos Magic and sigils were my first exposure to ritual magic beyond the few things that my parents had taught me.
Over time I scaled up my practise and started carrying out larger workings, drawing on sigils, ritual magic, long meditations, mantras, offerings and anything else I could think of. During the pandemic I was really struggling as my industry had been hit hard, so I called on a deity to help me get back on my feet. The rite lasted several days and one week after it was done I was approached by a company that actually had that same deity’s symbol as its logo. That company offered me the best job I’ve ever had, completely transforming my life for the better and I worked with them for the next three years.
I came to realise that magic could affect both the external and internal landscape of my life, and both “results” magic and internal alchemy have their place.
PAA: What are some of the magical paths and traditions you’ve explored along your journey, and how have these shaped your current practice?
I spent the longest time in the Eastern traditions. I was a half decent martial artist for most of my life and learned Qigong from a Shaolin master who had a big influence on me. I later spent some years involved with plant medicine and Ayahuasca in particular. This was highly transformative for me and gave me some incredible insights about the world and myself, but I felt it wasn’t enough to simply take the medicine, there needed to be real action taken in tackling the problems that the medicine revealed. I ended up refocusing on practices that didn’t require any external stimuli. Eventually I also noticed that in every group I was ever involved with, group dynamics became a problem and even in martial arts groups the familial structure can become cult-like. So, I resolved to be a solo practitioner which led me to self-initiation.
PAA: How did you discover Franz Bardon’s work, and what aspects of his teachings have resonated with you the most?
I was part of Jason Louv’s original “Adept Initiative” course which was my first structured exploration of magic. Jason was a big proponent of Bardon’s Black and White Mirror practice and encouraged us to do this as part of the course. The idea of delving into one’s psyche and facing up to every little grubby part of one’s character and systematically uprooting it seemed pretty revolutionary to me. It also resonated with something I learned during an Ayahuasca ceremony, that there should be no part of your own mind where you’re afraid to venture. There are hidden reserves of energy that are clogged up in that darkness, if we can only be brave enough to delve down into them. There is a certain sense of courage that comes with Bardon work which really appeals to me.
PAA: Mental wandering is a key exercise in Bardon’s approach, requiring focus and self-control. How did you find this practice? Did it come naturally, or was it something you developed over time?
I had always been prone to experimenting with my mind and had developed certain techniques of my own that could be described as mental wandering. I would lie on my bed and focus on creating gateways in my mind that I would then mentally walk through. Those gates might be tattvas into the elemental realms (as described in the Golden Dawn curriculum) or simple doorways that I would draw a symbol on that represented the subject I wanted to investigate.
Several years ago I became a qualified hypnotherapist and found many of the trance induction techniques could be applied to mental wandering. “The Staircase deepener” where you imagine yourself walking down a flight of stairs, doubling your sense of relaxation with each step, is one that I successfully adapted to mental wandering. In my case I substituted the stairs for a huge desert of colossal rolling sand-dunes that I would walk up and down, sending myself deep into trance. Bardon stresses the importance of using of all the senses, as did my hypnosis teacher, so I would focus on feeling the sinking sensations and the warmth of the sand on my feet and the blowing of the winds. I would draw symbols in the sands to represent the object of my investigation, then keep walking until that landscape started to shift and change.
Just a couple of weeks ago I found good use for mental wandering when my partner complained about hearing a lot of spooky noises in an empty house where she was working. The owner of that house had also said they were starting to think it might be haunted. So one evening I built a mental double for myself and walked to the house in real time, making the world as real and vivid as I could. When I reached the house I began wandering around and asking if anyone was there. I began receiving answers in the form of symbols that guided me to a trapped spirit. I eventually found this strange, sad man ranting about something from his past. He gave me the feeling of being trapped in a sack that he was desperately trying to claw his way out of. I asked for help from the higher powers in assisting him and something light, white and comforting descended and wrapped itself around us. This was very similar to the kind of work I once watched my Dad carry out, although at the time I couldn’t really see what he was doing. So I’m very glad to have learned to follow in his footsteps now that he’s gone.
PAA: Approach to Soul Mirror- MMI and Andres ‘Through the Soul Mirror to the Sphere of the Sun‘ are much more in depth approaches to soul mirror work. Can you discuss some of the challenges and benefits that this brings with it?
Andre’s focus on breaking things down into tiny details has been really powerful for me. The very first exercise of ‘Thought Observation’ in Bardon’s IIH was something I never really paid much attention to until working with Andre. I thought I was already beyond that level and didn’t need to bother. But Andre had me spend time watching my thoughts and actually speaking aloud anything I noticed, recording my findings into my phone. This was the first step in building the mirror of thoughts. This was unbelievable to experience and showed me how much I was missing. Speaking aloud became a kind of fishing-net that allowed me to capture so much more than I had previously been aware of. There were layers of thoughts, and thoughts of different types. Thoughts that were barely noticeable ripples of feeling on the surface of my mind, thoughts that were simple awareness, and then awareness of that awareness. And on and on it goes! After just a few sessions of this training, the thoughts weren’t just coming from inside me but seemed to be coming from elsewhere. I would be listening back to my recordings and writing down all the mundane thoughts popping up, when suddenly my voice would change slightly and I would say something bizarre like “An owl with a crown!” or “A being of light!” or “A man with blue skin!” and would have no memory of saying that at all. This practise showed me how much we miss and how we really only detect the barest sliver of reality. We are transmitting and receiving, but we’re mostly unaware of the difference.
I already had a sense that the Golden Dawn methods could be done in a much more in-depth way than was commonly practiced. I had been practicing the LBRP for some time and doing it exactly as Israel Regardie instructed and found it cleansing and grounding. Yet I also began to practice it in my astral temple in my mind, and amping up the theatrics as much as I could. In my mind I found I was able to boom the God names across the universe in ways my vocal cords could never achieve, and the pentagrams could expand to become the size of suns. When practicing physically I always felt good and clear headed at the end, yet when practicing internally I began to have actual visitations from the spirits I was calling out to. On one memorable occasion two beings turned up who looked so alien as to be terrifying. One had a burning pyramid for a head and the other had a flaming crater where its face should have been.
So when I saw that Andre was teaching a method of practising the Golden Dawn rituals in the more granular, Bardon-like way, I had to jump at it. I am still working through the ‘Grand Ritual of Purification’ (which ties in with the Middle Pillar of Golden Dawn), as I’m determined not to rush through it, but the results have already been fascinating.
Just the practise of colour oscillation, where you focus on varying colours of light has been incredible. I initially thought I was failing the practise as each colour was causing me to experience some quite distinct mental phenomena so I thought I was getting distracted, but Andre explained that I was actually connecting to the energy of the planets that the colours represented, and that these experiences were a sign of progress.
PAA: How important do you think it is to have a guide to work with on this material?
This is one of the great things with working with Andre. His courses feel more like a mentorship than simply running through a bunch of video recordings. He actually encourages you to email him regularly and he really takes the time to go through your reports and feedback. I’ve not had that before with other teachers as it’s more common that they write back a single line response, if at all. The other benefit of having a personal tutor is that Andre has been actively tailoring the training to my needs. By reading my reports he was able to gauge my level and get a sense of what instruction I might need besides just having me follow the course material blindly. He’s provided individual extra-curricular exercises to support me and my development, which I’m truly grateful for.
PAA: Thank you, Alex, for sharing your journey, I am sure these answers will inspire many in their practice.
