# How the Universe Works: The Path of Enlightenment – Part 1

## Introduction

We are going to discuss how the universe works and the path of enlightenment. This is going to be a three-part series where I will first discuss the path of enlightenment, then the path of manifestation, and finally, how the universe, for lack of a better term, evolves.

### The Path of Enlightenment

Some would refer to this as the upward path. That term works well enough, and there are reasons why you would want to describe it this way. However, the first thing you need to keep in mind is that the process of enlightenment is mechanical. Ignore the philosophy attached to it. In fact, I will go a step further and say that if you're inquiring about enlightenment and the person you're talking to automatically defaults to philosophy, ignore them. Additionally, if they get into emotion, ignore them again.

Your perception of what is happening needs to be fundamentally grounded in the mechanics of how to make it happen. This is why, as I discuss often discuss, the true enlightenment state—beyond energy, beyond time, beyond spatial constraint, beyond sensation, and beyond emotion—is a thing that can only be defined in the negative. This is one of the few things that the great saints and yogis of all traditions seem to agree upon. From that standpoint, it needs to be taken very seriously. If someone starts talking about other aspects of it—things that can be positively defined—they are wrong. If they go into the philosophy of it, quite frankly, they are wasting your time. Since it is something that can't be defined, it is by definition only something that can be experienced. Philosophy isn’t going to help you get there, and people who fall back on it are usually trying to sell you something.

Because very little of the magical or meditative path can be measured scientifically, the community is full of a lot of nonsense. This is a fact. You have to be very careful about this. The number one sign of this is people who default to philosophy rather than mechanism when it comes to enlightenment.

### The Process of Enlightenment

The process of enlightenment is about taking the differentiated pieces of reality and putting them back together in order to reach this undifferentiated state. The best way I can describe this is that it's akin to having a puzzle on the table—one of those jigsaw puzzles with hundreds of little pieces. But here’s the thing: when you put the picture back together, the picture then disappears.

This is important to understand. As you take all these differentiated pieces of reality—sensation, sight, sound, emotion, concepts, mental constructs, and even Aasha itself—and put them back together in your mind's eye, it generates a lot of light, brilliant white light in fact. This is why people talk about the light of enlightenment. However, that light is actually the step before the final step because the light, since it can be defined, isn't actually the endpoint. The step beyond that is where that jigsaw puzzle in front of you disappears. That is the final stage.

What happens when you go there seems to be really important, but again, nobody can positively define what that is. One telltale sign of someone who has accomplished this is that they have very little energy around them. Why? Because that energy has crossed over that barrier to one degree or another. Someone who is energetically powerful can have power, and power is useful, but that is not a sign of complete enlightenment. You must have that energy merging back together in order to get to that next step. It’s a bit of a conundrum, but again, it's mechanical. Keep this in mind—you are just taking lots of little pieces and putting them back together again.

### Why is This Hard?

As reality comes from this completely undifferentiated state and starts breaking down into smaller and smaller pieces so it can express itself, things get sticky. They get emotionally sticky. Anyone who has ever had a deep-seated emotion from trauma or even happiness can tell you that once it really takes hold, completely getting rid of it is really hard. These differentiated pieces of reality can also take on a kind of consciousness of their own. They are not willingly going to give that up either. So putting all that back together gets really hard.

This makes reassembling things back together again difficult. Sometimes the pieces don’t want to go back together. Sometimes you’re holding onto them too hard—for good reasons or bad reasons. You still have a physical existence to maintain, and being wary of people in a dangerous society is a survival skill you may not want to let go of altogether.

### Different Approaches to Enlightenment

Classically speaking, there are generally two approaches: the brute force (overwhelming power) method and the finesse method.

#### The Brute Force Method

The overwhelming power method is the most common because learning it is quicker. However, applying it requires you to do a lot of things that are frequently unpleasant, such as:

- Retaining your sexual essence for long periods of time.

- Adopting a vegan diet to facilitate energy flow.

- Engaging in hours of concentrated practice.

- Practicing in tightly enclosed spaces, like a cave, where energy builds up.

This approach is common because it is easier to pull off, though it can be physically and mentally demanding. When reality recombines, the experience can be disturbing and difficult. It is also generally uncontrolled, which is why many who experience enlightenment don’t know exactly how it happened.

#### The Finesse Method

The finesse approach takes a long time to pull off. This method involves projecting your mind into different levels of reality in a focused manner. In the Sixty Skills system or Franz Bardon's work, this involves the vital, astral, mental, and cosmic levels. You learn how to neutralize all the forces at each level of reality, which can take years. However, this makes them looser and easier to elevate back up into the undifferentiated whole.

As you get better at this process, you eventually join all these energies together, which leads to the final stage before everything disappears. Because you have learned to work with and release these forces individually, it becomes an ability—something you can do at will. In meditation traditions, this is incredibly rare.

### The Final Step

Now, you reach the point where all energies merge together. To cross into true enlightenment, everything must disappear. Personally, my experience is that as these energies merge upwards into one, I enter a space of extreme brilliance. At some point, I lose sensation of my body and become the light. Reality breaks down. I reach a boundary layer where energy slowly processes through, and at a certain point, I disappear.

I don't know how long I am gone for, but it is not the same as falling asleep. That is the true enlightenment state—the Nirvanic realm beyond energy, sensation, emotion, and spatial constraint. What happens there seems to be important, but it is difficult to define. The more I practice, the more repeatable it becomes.

Once this happens, many people quit. Depending on their health and well-being, they might decide to die at that point. However, for those who wish to continue, there is also the path of manifestation—the journey back down, where you take this undifferentiated whole and start breaking it down so that things can manifest.

This will be the topic of the next discussion on the path of manifestation. Learn more about the methods involved in doing all this yourself [here.](https://courses.perseusarcaneacademy.com/collection/sixty-skills)
