## Introduction and Background

**PAA: What inspired you to delve into the teachings of the Knights Templar, and how did their principles resonate with your personal journey?**

In my twenties I visited Paris for the first time and did sightseeing like all tourists. When I entered the Cathedrale Notre Dame, I instantly felt myself in a different, mental state – as Knight in full armor, filled with the Spirit of God, feeling all the virtues and the superior power of being a spiritual and worldly Knight. This mental shift of reality came along with a massive state of enlightenment where a great and powerful stream of Spirit entered my soul through the crown chakra. This lasted over three days and kept me sleepless.
Obviously, this was an unusual experience and looking back it was a reinstallation of the Templar Spirit, due to old bonds of a former incarnation and in connection to this special Cathedrale.
At this time, I did not understand nor see the connection to the Knights Templar. I was just fascinated by this powerful experience and the fascinating nature of being a Knight of God.
Many years later I felt interested in the Knights Templar and their mysteries and so I connected to a group in Germany which was very disappointing. But here I met a Templar of the Portuguese tradition, of real lineage and initiation. I told him about my experience in Paris and he helped me to realize the connection with the Knights Templar of a former incarnation.
Much later I was looking for a real lineage and found it in the Templar Research Institute where I joined then. Here I started to understand the deeper, hidden nature of the Templars, the spiritual aspects, which matched my own experiences, respectively memories of the former incarnation.
To say it in a simple way, - once a Templar, always a Templar. So, this means that I have the same Spirit, virtues, etc. today like in the former life. Also, spiritual missions go on and in this special time a lot of the old Templars and Cathars incarnate to support the realization of the golden age. The work continues.
I want to mention that we all make so many different experiences throughout all the incarnations that we are in the end the sum of all of them. So, you will find virtues and characteristics for example of a Buddhist in me, as well as those of an initiate of ancient religions and traditions, various cultures and countries. Indeed, we are not limited to one role, but we are all quite complex in nature.

**PAA: What motivated you to write The Masters of Spirit & Matter, and what do you hope readers take away from this book?**

We have a diversity of religions and spiritual traditions which all play their role in the spiritual development of mankind. Among all these movements the Templar have a special meaning due to their specific nature. If you want to realize a powerful mission, then the best choice are Templars. While other traditions focus on pure spiritual goals and accomplishments like a blissful state of unity, or the escape of the material world and the realization of Nirvana, the Templars are different. A real Templar is a vehicle of the Divine Spirit with focus on Power, Justice, Wisdom, Love, Service, Action, Perfection, Management and Goal-Achievement. It is the unity of Spirit and Matter, the merging of polarity which results in perfection. In modern terms we could say that a true Templar is a Master of Project Management with a maximum level of productivity and performance. So, if you want to realize a divine project or mission, a Templar is the best choice. Templars are the taskforce of God. And this makes them special. For the reader this means that the nature of the Templars offers inspiration for the own personal-spiritual development. The uniting of the two poles of one polarity is a spiritual mystery which accompanies the seeker on the whole path. It is all about accomplishing this divine state of unity. So, it is not directly necessary to become a Templar, but there is much which can be learned from the Templar tradition. The realization of mastery of life is offered, and this is a main topic in all my work.

**PAA: Can you share a pivotal moment in your life that led you toward spiritual exploration and writing about these topics?**

The deeper studies all started with the discovery of Franz Bardon´s first book. I think for most of us it is true that we compare the different spiritual teachings to find the most fitting theory and practice. So, I have studied everything which was available to complement my understanding of our world with the core work in Bardon´s system. Higher research, meeting specific people and traveling has offered many fascinating revelations and initiations which work like putting the pieces of a big puzzle together to get the great picture. So, for example, I got a deeper understanding of the Cathars and the Templars, also of the ancient magicians in Europe. It is interesting that most of the initiations have the same topics beyond the borders of tradition. And these initiations had/have great impacts on the people and their behavior and perception of life. For example, if you experience that life goes on after the physical death, you lose your fears, and your personal power gets unleashed. So, you become unstoppable. This is true for Cathars, for Templars, for the Samurai, the original assassins, and many others. In the end all spiritual topics are just the study of reality, seen from a higher point of view. Nothing special, just normal. We can compare this with someone who is imprisoned in a dark hole his complete life and suddenly gets liberated, seeing sunshine and getting fresh air for the first time. For all others it is just normal to enjoy nature, sunlight and fresh air.

## Templar Teachings and Philosophy

**PAA: How do you believe the Templars' synthesis of spirituality, discipline, and mastery can be applied in modern life?**

Basically, the ideas of the Templar virtues and ideals can offer orientation for the own personal development. The brilliant approach to combine the poles of polarity, of spirit and matter, for maximum mastery of life and as a well-balanced attitude towards creation is a universal and timeless principle which can be applied now and in the future for the own benefits and the greater good of all.
Mastery is what we can accomplish, and mastery offers the maximum of value, of happiness, success and abundance in life. It is a positive attitude, quite contrary to the famous ideas from the East to just focus on escaping this world.

**PAA: Can you elaborate on how the Templars achieved a harmonious union between spiritual and material realms? How can readers apply this principle today?**

Life is all about balance. The spiritual path is all about balance. All beings, even atoms and molecules strive for a state of balance. The Templars realized this state of balance perfectly in the frame of their situation. They were monks and knights at the same time, strong in both poles, and the elite of them had a higher, spiritual background knowledge including initiations. Today, we do not need to fight. Today, we can use this attitude and power to realize spiritual-social projects to educate and empower people worldwide. So, the mission has changed. It is the combination of the best of two worlds, - of the spiritual world and the material world. As the Templars say, “Spiritualize the material and materialize the spiritual.” And that´s it. Very simple, but super powerful in its effects. In the end, we all have to ask ourselves how we can unite material aspects of life with spiritual ones. The better we get this done, the more we benefit from a state of true balance and happiness.

**PAA: How does aligning actions with universal laws contribute to personal growth according to Templar teachings?**

In fact, it is all about knowing the laws of creation and applying them for maximum success. If you violate the laws or ignore them, you cause suffering and trouble for yourself, for others and for your project. We are made of these laws and the whole creation works on the basis of these laws. It is like mathematics or physics. Imagine you want to build a bridge. You can do it somehow, but if this bridge will be able to work is a different question. As a master, knowing the laws of statics, you can calculate the construction of the bridge, so that it can fulfill its purpose. Or, let´s take a different example. If you want to design a house, you ask an architect, not a baker. The law of analogy.
This principle is valid for spiritual development and training too. The more balanced the training concept is and with this, the more it follows the laws, the better and healthier the progress will be. The opposite is extreme, one-dimensional training which violates the laws and causes many health issues.

## Practical Applications

**PAA: What practical methods from the Templars' teachings would you recommend for cultivating inner strength during challenging times?**

A central aspect is the role model and archetype of a Knights Templar. It is the combination of a spiritual “monk” and the noble Knight with all his virtues. We can transfer this into being a “Knight of God” who serves the Divine Will for the greater good of all. You can meditate on these ideas to integrate them into yourself. A true or let´s say higher Templar is an enlightened person, empowered by God. So, initiation plays a major role and faith. These aspects can be combined with normal spiritual training to strengthen the center of will power, the heart center and the crown center.

**PAA: Are there specific techniques or practices from your book that help build resilience in everyday life? If so, could you describe them?**

The more you do spiritual training, meditation, and prayers, the stronger you become. Your personal level of energy will rise and this will bring resilience. Realizing an abundance of energy and balance in yourself offers the best type of resilience, including detachment.

**PAA: How does one achieve mastery over both mind and matter as suggested in your book?**

Realize the Divine Spirit in yourself and you are a master of life and creation. Study management and project management make you a master of the material world. It is about divine authority, will power, creator skills and management skills.

## Spiritual Growth

**PAA: According to your research on the Knights Templar, what pathways lead most effectively toward spiritual enlightenment?**

The path of the Templars was based on vows like monks and knights must make, then on the corresponding service and lifestyle, and if you have proved faith, virtues, right attitude, etc. you were chosen for initiation and a leadership role. Prayers and meditations played certainly also a role. The initiations were a matter of enlightenment and empowerment, installing new masters of the Order. Then, depending on your status further initiations took place, for example into the reality of the higher realms and life after death, and the offering of the chalice of eternal life. In general, there was a bright spiritual knowledge available, including sciences like alchemy and astrology, and the Templars were well connected with the spiritual traditions of their time.

**PAA: How did the Knights balance their deeply spiritual lives with practical responsibilities like managing vast resources or military duties? Are there lessons here for modern individuals seeking similar balance?**

The Templars were masters in management and project management, and additionally they had great support by a lot of people like own farmers and own hospitals, etc. Management skills and the military structure offered a maximum of efficiency in all tasks. These values and ideas can be transferred into our modern world.

**PAA: In what ways can contemporary seekers apply ancient wisdom without losing relevance or effectiveness in today's fast-paced world?**

Today no one has time, but pressure is everywhere. Imagine being a Knights Templar under war conditions – you are always on the run and forced to be highly efficient and super productive. “Running” is an attitude. I am running the whole time to get everything done in this life too. Certainly, there must be also times of peace and recovery. Pushing yourself let´s you realize a lot in shortest time. Time is very precious and easily wasted. So, if you have great goals, you should keep running.

## Personal Development

**PAA: Your book emphasizes self-discovery as part of personal development. Could you outline some steps readers might take toward deeper self-understanding using Templar principles?**

This is a complex topic which follows in main the traditional steps of introspection, purification, healing, vitalization, refinement and the induction of the Divine Spirit. The work with the Divine Spirit is probably unique.

**PAA: How do readers uncover their purpose using insights from The Masters of Spirit & Matter?**

Self-mastery and becoming a master of life, a master in creation is the potential which is set in the human soul. It is up to us to realize these high states of perfection. It is a natural development over many incarnations, and if it is your will, you can undergo consciously a spiritual training to realize your potential in a short time. Mastery is a general idea. So, we can become a general master of life as well as a master in a specific art or science or field of life. It is our free choice. My book might inspire the reader to realize his own mastery in a way that fits individually.

**PAA: What strategies would you suggest, based on Templar teachings, for overcoming obstacles that hinder personal growth or achieving goals?**

It is the absolute faith of the monk and the power of the knight which are here utilized. This combination helps to achieve all goals.

## Intersections with Other Disciplines

**PAA: In what ways do Templar teachings intersect with other philosophical traditions (e.g., Hermeticism) that emphasize unity between spirit and matter?**

When you imagine that the leaders of the Templars all came from the elite of society with great background in all types of education and teachings, also various spiritual traditions, and then that they were well connected in the mediterranean region with the various religious and traditional leaders, - you can easily say that they had and still have an abundance of secret knowledge.

**PAA: How have interpretations of Templar wisdom evolved over time? Are there any historical contexts crucial for understanding these interpretations correctly today?**

Corresponding to our modern times psychology was integrated and other secret societies have unfolded their influences on the Templar tradition. The core of teachings is universal in nature and does not change, but other aspects of were adapted to the changes of time and society. There is much space for research and not all secrets are unveiled. Also, today not everyone is a real Templar but there are various groups with different goals.

**PAA: Do Templar principles hold cross-cultural relevance? If so, how might they be adapted across different cultural backgrounds without losing their essence?**

Most principles are universal in nature and even in the ancient times several cultures, also religions and traditions were involved and connected in the Templar work. So, everyone can feel free to study these ideas.

**PAA: From a psychological perspective, how does integrating spiritual practices influence mental health or well-being according to Templar wisdom adapted into modern contexts?**

God is the source of life and vitality, so if you serve God and if you undergo the spiritual training, you will benefit a lot in terms of health, indeed in all fields of life. Unity with God means true fulfillment, happiness and mastery.

**PAA: Given ethical considerations around power dynamics within historical orders like the Knights Templar, how should contemporary practitioners approach these aspects responsibly while still benefiting from ancient knowledge systems?**

Ethics are essential and today it is more the universal approach which is certainly also reflected in the esoteric teachings of Jesus. Personal development, refinement and the unity with God are in the focus. Today we must support the development of mankind towards a better future for all.

## Community and Philosophy

**PAA: The Knights were known for strong fraternal bonds. Are there lessons here about building supportive communities focused on mutual support rather than competition?**

Spiritual Brotherhood is super important and one of the most important experiences we can have. It is holy and lasts over time and space. Brothers will recognize each other in all incarnations. The bonds are most powerful. Brotherhood means teamplay, not competition. It is comparable to teams in the special forces, - perfect interaction, absolute trust, true loyalty.

**PAA: Could you explain more about the philosophical underpinnings behind "spiritualizing matter" versus "materializing spirit"?**

It is the great process of alchemy. The material world gets spiritualized, refined, while the Divine Spirit unfolds and realizes in our material world. The result of this process is the golden age, the state of perfection and balance.

**PAA: For someone who has never explored such deep philosophical concepts before but is interested, where should they start applying actionable wisdom derived directly from Knight’s philosophy into daily routines?**

I suggest meditating on the archetype of a noble knight, making a list of all his virtues, his skills, his powers, mindset and attitude. In a second step, you can add the spiritual aspect, asking yourself what it means to be a knight of God, an authority in creation and a servant of God and creation at the same time. When you have a clear picture, you can grow into this role model, implementing it in your life, identifying with a Knights Templar. In other cultures, we find the idea of the spiritual warrior which is similar. The Templars certainly have a Christian background.

## Challenges and Future Perspectives

**PAA: Given societal pressures against introspection versus action-oriented lifestyles, what advice would you offer regarding maintaining commitment toward internal transformation amidst external demands?**

It is a matter of setting preferences and goals in your life. Besides this, there are times where we are forced to focus more on the outer world, and other periods where we have more space for internal practices. In the end, it is important to find an individual balance between outer and inner action. Practically speaking, if you can manage half an hour of spiritual training every day, you will make good progress. Students who try to do training over hours daily stop completely as it is just too demanding. So it is better to have half an hour or one hour per day, and simple exercises during breaks, than too extreme training which does not work out.

**PAA: Looking forward, how might future generations continue evolving these timeless principles while ensuring they remain relevant yet stay true to their original essence within a changing global landscape?**

The old and the ancient powers and paths of spiritual development are still there, partially hidden in plain sight. Those who are looking for them will find them. The essence will never change and real masters will continue to incarnate to teach new generations. I will support these processes with my own platform for mystics and especially with the Mystical Order of the Universal Initiates. Here a well-balanced system for personal development is offered and together we will engage in spiritual-social projects to support the development of mankind.
The Spirit is always the same. Only his clothes are changing in the frame of time and culture.

**PAA: Thank you, Ray, for your time and continuing to inspire us all with your writing.**
