# Bridging Bardon and the Sedona Method: Emotional Release for the Soul Mirror — by Clint Sabom

After coaching hundreds of students on the work of 20th century mystic, Franz Bardon, I have noticed a real gap.

Many people become very discouraged with the soul-mirror steps because the steps Bardon gives to complete this task don't cover everything - a true statement because they do not. Washing, eucharist, breathing, autosuggestion and volitional acts just aren't enough, especially for things on the dark mirror that are multi-factor, such as complex PTSD.

As I reflected on this, I remembered the Sedona Method, a system of emotional release.  I am a Sedona Method graduate, and it has helped me a lot with Bardon work.

So I am EXPANDING my practice to be more centered on the Sedona Method and emotional work to help students who are stuck on the soul mirrors EXPAND their tool kit so they can get through the initial steps (1 and 2) and move on to deeper work. But it can work on anyone, essentially, as emotional health is an issue for even advanced mystics or people who are on any part of their journey.

Additionally, I have also worked with others in different disciplines, different walks of life, who suffer daily from unresolved emotional issues. This can be problematic across the board, not merely in spirituality.

Many of my clients are really experiencing difficulty on their spiritual path due to these unresolved emotional issues that are part of complexes residing deep in the shadow self. The Sedona Method is the right tool for such people, because no matter their spiritual path, I am dedicated to helping people resolve these issues so they can embrace their native power as human beings and experience more success in all areas of life.

## The Sedona Method

All thoughts arise from [emotions. In](http://emotions.in) fact, entire thought patterns can arise from a single emotion. But once we can fully feel the emotion underneath these thought patterns will disappear. Emotional health has even been linked to physical diseases in studies.

So how do we get stuck in emotions? We can suppress them, which is very common. We can be ashamed to even have certain emotions and bury them. Or we may not even know these emotions are there until we fully feel and release other emotional material which is more prevalent.

Another way we can get stuck is expression. To some degree, expression can be healthy with a safe person, but it can also become sort of an addiction where we are expressing the same emotions all of the time.

Or we can self-medicate with alcohol or drugs or any variety of things. We can also project our feelings onto others, thinking they have them, not us. There are other ways, too, but in my experience suppression and expression are the most common.

So now what? Well we can release them through a variety of ways. The first is to simply let go. If you grab a light object with your hand, such as a pen, and drop the pen, then you let go of the emotion. In this case, your hand represents your awareness, and the pen, the emotion. But the emotion is not stuck to your hand, just like emotions are not stuck to our awareness. We tend to talk and act as if these emotions are stuck to us. For instance, we say, “I am angry,” rather than "I feel angry,” which is closer to the truth. Of course, to simply let go like this, like you’re dropping a pen, is very difficult. It usually needs a high level of emotional health in most cases.

The second way is welcoming the feeling, and it is my favorite and the most effective with my clients. We welcome the feeling for what it is, like a neighbor moving all his stuff in next door – he’s not going anywhere. So we welcome the feeling fully, accept it, let it be. Then we ask ourselves three questions. “Could I let this go?” “Would I let this go.” “When?” One may need to run through this many times. “Yes,” and “No,” are perfectly acceptable answers. There may be no answer. Just pay attention to any shifts that occur.

Accepting an emotion may seem contradictory to releasing it. But it is by acceptance that we truly feel it. It is resistance to emotion that keeps it stuck: acceptance lets it flow. With enough fully feeling an emotion and letting it flow, it moves through us and out of us.

Another way of releasing, which goes along with the idea of flow, is to exaggerate the emotion. For example, we can journal about anxiety. We write: “I feel so anxious, I feel so anxious, my anxiety is uncontrollable,” over and over, so on and so on. Exaggeration gets the emotion unstuck, bringing it to the surface.

Another way, which can prove challenging for some, is the idea of polarity. We’ve all had people that we love and hate in our lives. Haven’t we at some point? One can feel all the love and then all the hate, back and forth between the two. Obviously, polarity can be done with any duality. Going back and forth wrestles the emotion out of the stuck space.

## Going Further

So what else? Well, it’s important to know the three main, core, wants we have: the need for control, approval, and security. In a sense, these three needs are the attachments of desire that Buddha taught as the root of suffering.  Each has an attachment side and an aversion side. For example, the need to control feels graspy, hard-edged. And the need to be controlled. Who wants to be controlled? But the aversion to control is the need to be taken care of, the need for someone else to do things for you, dependence and co-dependance. Approval is wanting someone to like you; the aversion is rejection of a person. Security, at its base, is the desire to live. And the aversion of security is the desire to die, again, at their roots. The aversion feels like just wanting to give up, while the attachment often leads to greed, wanting more security through money, homes, jobs, peace. I think all of these wants are healthy at different times: alas, they are the three main wants. But the great paradox here is that releasing them also gives you more peace, through questions I will ask on my [zoom sessions](https://clintsabom.com/).  It usually helps more for another person to ask all the questions mentioned so far in these exercises, rather than asking them to yourself.

The other factor I can talk about is the emotional chart. In brief the emotional chart runs from the bottom to the top as: apathy, grief, fear, desire, anger, pride, courage, acceptance, and peace. Most people get stuck in the bottom three, and each of these emotions in the chart has dozens of words that go with them. Note that this emotional chart is slightly different from the one David Hawkins lists in his book, *Letting Go*. Hawkins, in fact, though he published on a wide array of subjects, was a Sedona Method graduate. This emotional chart has much to it. First, most of us are often ashamed to have the bottom three, and the welcoming exercise mentioned previously can release them. Furthermore, working on the top three (courage, acceptance, peace) can lead to a release of the bottom emotions, in the same way focusing on the positives with gratitude is healthy for anyone. We have already talked about acceptance, and acceptance and surrender to an emotion can release the bottom three. Desire is the first emotion that gets us moving forward, rather than imploding in the bottom three.  There is much [more](https://clintsabom.com/) to this emotional chart and The Sedona Method which will not be covered here.

## The Power of Surrender

To shift subjects a bit, surrender to an emotion is complete acceptance. Acceptance means accepting all that is, accepting all the aspects of one’s life, just the way they are. Acceptance does not mean not to also take action. We are always taking some action if we want to take action. And yet, taking action from a place of surrender usually results in us taking the action better. This is all hard to do, though, because there are usually aspects to all our lives that we don’t like. And yet, many of these aspects are out of our control. This all goes hand and hand with the famous serenity to prayer:

Grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

The courage to change the things I can,

And the wisdom to know the difference.

Of those three, acceptance is both the hardest and the most potent in its power to heal.

## The Way of The Cross

There are accounts of Christian mystics and saints who endured great suffering, yet they accepted the suffering as their own sin and offered it to God as a living offering. Thus, they were able to achieve divine union, or theosis, which are akin to the Christian version of enlightenment. Indeed, surrender alone can lead one to enlightenment, if it becomes a permanent habit. And it’s not necessary to believe in God to do it. Yet it should also be noted that one translation of sin is “missing the mark.” It can simply be seen as imperfection in general. However, if the word sin and the word God are too loaded for you, then don’t do them. And if you’re not a Christian, no worries. Surrender can be done without all these by the process of full acceptance and the downward movement from head to feet that surrender usually is. I only mention this as the way of the cross because that is the Christian mystical path that can be used really in any path. You don’t even need to be spiritual at all to use these methods mentioned so far in this post. While The Sedona Method is essentially a spiritual path, it can also work on just a psychological level without spirituality.

## Transmissions

One thing I offer is energetic transmissions. It happened after a client wanted a transmission, and I really didn’t understand what he was talking about. But I decided to give it a try by using the Akasha, as Bardon refers to it. On our zoom call, I said: “What if this doesn’t work?” And the client then said: “Then I would question the spiritual power of the person.” I felt pressure, obviously, But I used my connection with the Akasha and tried. Afterwards he told me it was a powerful transmission, and he felt his third eye opening. So then I started doing it with more people, both on group sessions and individual sessions. It then became my most common type of session. Even higher level Bardon practitioners wanted transmission sessions. Many felt colors and images; many went into a state of deep peace; and some even had physical illnesses healed. I’d say I have about a 95% success rate. I then offered remote healings, where the clients didn’t need a zoom call. I sent them energy, and they all felt healed and refreshed. All I needed was the name of the client. I have hypnotized students remotely to go to sleep if they were previously sleeping poorly.  It’s still a bit of a mystery how I am able to do this. I take it purely as a blessing, a gift of Divine Providence. You can reach out to me [here](https://clintsabom.com/) if you want remote healings.

In conclusion, this all has been quite a marvelous journey, and using the Sedona Method as well as Bardon’s books feels like I am sitting on a gold mine. I’m excited to use both, and I hope to [hear from you](https://clintsabom.com/). Many blessings to all!
